Should I retake?

I’ll try not to look pretentious.

I’m thinking of bidding for Wharton (Dad is a full prof. there), Columbia, and UChicago for my top 3. So I know scores aren’t everything and I hate score grubbing BUT I took the SATs twice, in October and December, getting a 2210 and 2270 respectively. Here is the breakdown: October: 730 CR, 730M, 750W and Decmber: 700CR, 770M, 800W. I know that superscored it is a 2300, but I’m kind of weary because I feel that my CR score looks a little lopsided, especially for the schools I want to go to. I’d much rather have a 760/770/770 = 2300 split, you know what I mean? I’m perfectly fine with my writing and math scores but from my practice I know I could have done so much better on reading (I’ve gotten plenty of 780+ in practice tests), and I just feel that my score doesn’t reflect my true capability. Should I hit the books one last time for CR or should I just ignore it? I just don’t want a relatively small score difference to make me regret not taking it again, but at the same time the SATs are such a waste of time. If it helps, I’m asian. #affirmativeactionlol

Don’t bother. The difference between a 2300 and a 2350 is minuscule and you make yourself look obsessive by taking it over and over again.

Scores alone won’t determine whether you are admitted or not. Your super score is already 730/770/800 aka already 2300, so you are more than fine. It won’t be the factor that keeps you out of those schools

Don’t.

I agree. Not necessary.

As far as SAT scores go, you’re great. I highly doubt anywhere would reject you purely on the basis of those scores. No need to try again.

Don’t retake… instead spend that energy and time thinking of what you would write in your essays to get your story across.

Don’t even consider taking the exam again! If you’d do, even if you increase your score, you’ll seem to be an obsessive test taker. That is not good…
