October 2010 ACT English Thread

@ esthetique yeah purposely made the music different from the original piece. but then it TURNS OUT to be similar to that of the original piece. so isnt that ironic because its an unexpected outcome?

I have the same q as calc

@andisaid Really? hm…maybe i missed that part. If it is then you’re right. But i don’t remember it saying that it was similar…

yeah im pretty confident about it. i checked over my answers twice.but then i could be wrong both times. loool

I dont remember it saying it was similar either.

How about the one that said, “Hostels have kitchens, which provides an alternative for costly restaurants.” Do you need the comma before “which”? I put you didn’t but idk.

I didn’t put a comma

That’s what I like to hear lol

I did put the comma lol

are you sure provide was provides?

Oh no that’s a typo, it should be “provide”.

not correcting you im just wondering if it had an s or not. If it didn’t i think it def uses no comma with the s im not sure

Why does the “s” change anything in this case?

i didnt put the comma either

english test sucked, i only got thru like 45 or 50 and guessed on the rest. the ones i did answer i was fairly confident about tho. whats the highest possible score i can get

Yay, fellow non-comma users!

Umm I would assume since 50/75 is 2/3 then it would be a 24, but I don’t know where the curve is applicable.

Can anyone verify the “hostels have kitchens…” one with grammar or something?

I’m also wondering about the hostels one

Here was my thinking
If you dont have the comma it is the kitchens that are providing an inexpensive alternative, but if you put in the comma, it’s the fact that hostels have kitchens that provides the alternative…
idk, thats what i thought
