October 2010 - Math II

i thought we have to wait until the embargo is lifted

Wow…I screwed up the area of the triangle because I found the area of the triangle formed by those lines and the X-axis instead of the y :P

a list of all 50 questions?? lol we’re smart but are we THAT smart?

You wouldn’t believe how many questions people on CC are able to compile.

Anyway, you know what question annoyed me a lot? The one with the juice, ice cream, and soda. I couldn’t think of any other way to find the price change than to actually solve for each variable.

^ Yeah that question was annoying…I solved for each as well :/

How do you guys go so fast on these tests? Some of the questions seem to take a long time…especially that stupid one with the sandwich and juice

i solved that question in like 1 minute before the test ended…it was pretty straightforward

I got 11.83 or something around there, is that correct?

wasn’t the ice cream equal to 1.75?

How exactly did you guys do that question?

man i wasted so much time on that one. my answers just seemed to not match up?

The ice cream, juice etc question was very long…took me around a minute…and yes the ice cream value was 1.75$.I think the final answer was 11.42$

it was $11.42,
i used my 89 titanium to solve for the three variables:
sandwich = $4.20 + ice cream, juice = $.45 + ice cream, and sandwich + ice cream + juice = $9.90 using S, C, and J for sandwich, ice cream, and juice and the prices were sandwich : $5.95, ice cream: $1.75, and juice = $2.20 then you were supposed to increase the price of sandwich by 20% and juice by 15% so you multiply 5.95 x 1.2 and 2.20 x 1.15 to get 7.14 and 2.53 respectively, and when you add those 2 and the $1.75 for the ice cream you get $11.42 total

What is this modulus question? I don’t even remember it.

YES that’s correct!

What answer choice was that? I remember 11.something being choice C, hopefully I put 11.42 even though I think I remember 11.83.

i think it was choice C or D. what was the answer to the interest one towards the end, i was rushing and didnt read it closely i just punched in solve(100(1.048)^x=300) and got 23 and saw it was an answer choice, was that what it was asking?

How did you guys solve the last question? I know its basic but can anyone show the steps?

^ was it the if f(x+1) = x f(x) problem?

what was the last one?
