SAT II Math Level 2

I have a question about that test. What is the last math class necessary for taking it and getting an 800? What material is covered?

Pre-calculus. Everything.

Everything thro pre-calc.

wow. that should be hard.

Sarcasm?

The Math Level 2 is a joke for anyone who is still fresh out of precal and has SOME ability in math.

my pre-calc teacher didn't cover limits and stuff so I was screwed first time I took it (610). I am in AB calc and our teacher did a quick review of all things Pre-calc. I guess it helped (790)

yeah, i was being sarcastic...i guess i could've sounded clueless there :p

Take precalc and make sure you do well in the class. Then buy a prep book to review concepts and take practice tests (make sure you review the problems you missed so you won't make the same mistakes again)... If you do this, you shouldn't have a problem getting an 800 on the math level 2 examination.

Argh! I took precalc 2 years ago and didn't even remember I was signed up for this test until Sunday! I guess I'll be studying a lot between now and Saturday.

All the limits in SAT IIs are perfect 0/0 or inf/inf, so L'Hospital your way out.

Yep, but pretty dumb how they're on the SAT II...my pre-cal class didn't teach them, and I don't see a reason why any pre-cal class WOULD...and here, we don't get to L'Hopital's rule until integral calculus (luckily, a friend who was a semester ahead in math had mentioned L'Hopital's rule to me as a quick way of doing limits on my exam).

if you're using a ti-89, type in "limit(expression, variable, point,[and direction if desired])" and hit enter example: limit(x^3,x,5) would be the limit of x^3 as x approaches 5

anyone any good at stats

im struggling up in here

I was gonna take level 2, but I chickened out because I ran out of time in one of my practice tests! In retrospect, I probably would have gotten an 800 easily, especially because of the generous curve on Math IIC.

Then again, I'm testing in 2 days, so I might as well take Math II!

You've got to prep for this if you didn't come out of a strong precalc class. My teacher was a joke...only covered trig stuff, never even saw permutations or ellipses or series...because of this I got a 690, even though I got an 800 Math SAT and am in Multivariable Calculus. I'm retaking in January for an 800.

I did conics in Algebra 2 my freshman year. Permutations, all I have is basic knowledge that I forgot in 6th grade when we learned it.

What do I need to know about that?

If you can drive and have free time, drive over to ur bookstore and pickup either the PR or Barron's Math2c book and flip through their review sections to see what you need to freshen up on. Sit there and study it if you have time.

brassmonkey:

ap stats over here. what do u need help in?

Hey The Who, I replied to your female advice thing on the other thread if you want to read.

I'm a senior taking pre calculus THIS year... I'm still taking the SAT II Math 2 however, most of it we covered last year...
