OCTOBER 2011 SAT Curve

@Oceanz
did you have a math question with a cone split into 2 cones and asking for the area? (of the base i think)

No, I had the test with four CR sections…wow, guess I just got that question wrong then. Brain = dead.

is there a possibility of getting a 600 on the math by getting a raw score of 37 or 36

Nope there probably isn’t sorry private. The first time I took the SAT I got a 580 in math (i’m pretty sure the curve was about average). Well, needless to say, thank God for super scoring because I eventually got a 680 in math, so that is all colleges will see because I’m not even sending the score for the time I got the 580 :). Anyways, I just checked my score from that test on the sat website. I got a score of 39 for that.
So, even with the probably more gracious curve of this test, a 36 or 37 may get you a 580, but I doubt it will be enough to get you a 600.

what do you think the math curve will be?

^ I’m praying for an easy one…

I’m sure it will be a good curve because I found the math extremely hard and I literally didn’t even finish one of the sections. I hope the critical reading curve is good though because I currently have a 680 in that and would loveeee to get a 700 at least since I know I didn’t improve math and I actually think I did do somewhat well on that.

I really just want a 700 on each section… (740 math though)

It sucks… I scored an 800 on the practice test, and this test today was tough… I think I missed 4 or 5 math ones. I’m hoping it’s only that much…

normally math is really easy for me…but there was one section that I know I missed 5 for sure and that has yet to happen in the other 2 SAT test I took or any of the practice tests I took.

here’s to hoping that was experimental :)

cr was normal to a tad bit hard…I did well in my opinion

the writing was really easy, harsh curve expected

Only 4 or 5? I wish I was in your shoes right now…I’m pretty sure I missed like, twice that much, lol.

Any educated guesses based on past tests on the math curve this time?

http://www.erikthered.com/tutor/SAT-Released-Test-Curves.pdf</a> If this math section was the hardest possible, this curve list site says that if you miss 10 you’d still get a 680.

Oh and @private if you see this post, according to the link i put in the post above, if this math was considered the hardest possible, there actually is a chance you could get above a 600 with a 36 or 37  but i don’t know if this would be the absolute hardest.

I don’t have much experience with curves but I feel that there were a few difficult questions for average level test-takers, meaning the curve may be a bit frontloaded.

@ oceanz, I was doing well on every math section, until I reached that one with the two circles at the end…I hope that was experimental because it was so much harder than it really should be…the level 5 questions in there was way too high to take only 25min

It wasn’t, I had the test with 4 CR sections and I still had that problem.

I thought CR was harder than usual. Practiced with 2011 May/Jan SATs and it was definitely not the same. Expecting -3= 800 -4= 780 -5= 760…etc.

@ oceanz, yes there were 4 CR sections on mine too, but does that mean it is experimental for sure?

Isn’t there only one experimental section per test?

@working2college; you had a CR experimental section for sure.
