October 2012 PSAT score

Got a 223
70 CR, 76 Math, 77 Writing
I am sort of disappointed- I could have done better. However, that score is good enough for SF in NC. Yay!

228 in New Mexico/Illinois.

This could have boded a lot better, but at least I got a perfect in math. :)

Congratulations to all of the other qualifiers!

GC called (I e-mailed her) with the good news in SoCal this morning. D got 231! Don’t know the breakdown yet, but I guess it doesn’t matter… It’s going to be a very nice holiday (no more stress over this!)…

PSAT Progress:

2010 Frosh 180
2011 Soph 211
2012 Junior 231

BTW, she took the SAT Oct 6th & got:
CR 720 / M 680 / W 700 = 2100

217 in California :frowning: :(

Hey Im a sophmore and I just got back my PSAT results…
CR 57
M 59
W 48

I didnt really study. Is it possible to improve my scores for next year, so I can be a National merit scholar?

Got my results back:

73 Math
78 Critical
80 Writing

231.

However, this score doesn’t count for me because I’m not a junior yet. :frowning: Any tips to make sure that it doesn’t drastically drop?

My school says that we’re getting scores January 9th. I have no idea why.

Sophmore psat: 178
Junior Nov SAT: 2200
Junior psat: 233 (cr80 m76 w77)
Studied hard 2 months prior to Nov. SAT; used blue book, gubers, wordsmart

So I’m like reading this and I seriously have not seen a single score where it’s below 200… Seriously guys?

PSAT? how relevant is it compared to SAT?

PSAT is essentially a mini-SAT but with a less generous curve. It isn’t really that important, I would say, unless you score above the NMS bar for your state.

Everyone on college confidential is more conscientious about doing well in high school so that they can make it into their college of choice. Logic follows that the majority of that type of student is naturally smarter than your average bear and studies more. Also, some of the lower scorers get intimidated by the higher scores. You’re bound to hear more about exceptional students on college board.

210 in New Mexico for Saturday’s test
71 CR (-4)
71 M (-3)
68 W (-3)
Hopefully I’ll make the cutoff as its usually a little below 210 judging by past years. Anyway, the writing curve seems harsh to me. Dang stupid mistakes…

any perfect scores on this forum yet? high fives for you from a 233 guy

@2redpartyhats - yes, I’ve seen two 240s on here, maybe three. I would be one also if I hadn’t misread one math question…
I did miss a CR as well, but that didn’t count off.
Now it’s time to worry about the SAT, lol… (I’m just realizing that I haven’t even taken it yet…)

2011 (sophomore): 205
2012 (junior): 229 (perfect math score)
In my state, the cutoff is typically 213 or 215, so that’s not an issue.

And in a graduating class of ~800, I’m the highest score I’ve heard of. (granted, there’s a sophomore who got 237  )

I got a 214 (68 CR, 76 M, 70W). It doesn’t really matter this year for me (soph) but I’m going to try to get a perfect score next year.

I think the PSAT is mostly about being careful…

But at the same time managing your time so you don’t run out.

Sophomore PSAT: 215 in Nebraska for Wednesday’s Test

77 CR (-2)
67 M (-5, …I seriously messed up here)
71 W (-3, …Meh)

How can I improve my math score? I studied for SAT math then reviewed the problem missed- and I still missed them. I just can’t seem to answer a lot of the hard ones. What should I do to get 80 on the math? Any good books to use?

anyone know what the cali cutoff score is? i heard someone in california got a 188 but still qualified…and im confused cause the cutoff has been 220ish for the past few years
