October 2012 SAT Discussion

kk i put 250 :)

Oh! They give you a number of absences, let’s say 85 (I don’t remember). So you subtract 8(2) and 2(3 absences…I think?) (so it’s 2 kids are absent three times…?) and then you subrract 6 and 16 from 85, then add back 8 and 2.

guys i think college board is screwing with us, switching pluses and minuses depending on what version you had
what i got tho and i had writing experimental (3+4):
temp was 130
students was 1600
perimeter of triangle was 33 7<thirdside<17 so the largest integer is 16, 16+12+7 = 33
rest stop ration was 2:1 you had to count the beginning onessss!
2xsqrt(3)
a+b=6 (in the exponential gypsie problem)

thats all the ones i remember second guessing,i caught myself makin a mistake when i was checking on the one were it asked which one is NoT tru (where the y>90 etc.)

other than that i’m sure i got a 800, waiting game begins lol dont wanna talk about reading bombed it ~600 hopfully i can get up to 630 ish and i did bad a writing and good on a writing, amazing essay ~700 670 will get me my 21 tho

GUYS WE ARE F ING DONE WITH THIS TEST, now to finish off the apps lol

No, wait…ugh, I’m giving up. My memory is awful.

@finance483 i think that was the mile markers one. but its supposed to be 2:1.

yea and 5% of total population was absent

1) 1600
2) a+b=6
3) Highest perimeter is 33
4) 130 Fahrenheit
5)Half square = 128
6) Cube - 54
7) 9/22
8)2xsqrt(3)
9)6.5
10) Slope = -1/3
11) 330 (Sandra, L=2s+30, 150(2)+30=330)
12)x+y (6/7 greatest value)
13)-2/7x+7
14) 48
15) 65 degrees
16) Slope = 5
17) 998 (3, 5, 8, 13, 18)
18) -3 (x+y±12)
19) sqrt130 or 11.4

All the answers yankee got, I got.

Can someone please explain the problem where it asked for the integer that was half of another integer squared? Does anyone remember the exact question?

I put “72.” I think someone mentioned that the integer ITSELF had to be greater than 100, although I’m not sure.

Probability one was 9/22. I made the silliest mistake ever on that one…

Guys, you made this quite tough on yourselves:
take number of absences day one and subtract 0
then subtract 8 or two or whatever because that was the amount who missed day one and day two
then subtract one for the person who missed day three
add those up as they stand there and run the proportion.

@catch It said what was the smallest half integer that’s greater than 100. 72 isn’t greater than 100…you’re are talking about the half integer problem right??

the answer was 128 because the integer itself had to be greater than 100. 128(2) = 256 and root 256 = 16.

@catchtwentythree, k is an integer where 2k = n, and n is a perfect square, so 1, 4, 9, 36…etc. k is called a half square, what is the smallest value of k that is above 100? Answer is 128.

Okay, we’re up to 19 questions.

Does anyone have anything to add that has not already been discussed?

you have to subtract two for the person who missed three days

for the writing section, there was a question about the energy expended…i was choosing between “that of the opposite direction” and “the energy expended in the opposite direction” or something like that and chose the latter…which did u put? also can someone post answers to the ape one

Can someone link me to the critical reading thread?

@phoenix …where did you get “n is a perfect square…” Mine gave an example of 18 being a half integer…I guess different variations

Um…answers? Can’t remember any right now…

@Galinda it’s on the SAT Prep page

The whale question was 1/8 I think…I’m afraid I’m wrong.

Thanks a lot guys…I feel like crap now
