October 2012 SAT Discussion

What did you say about the Rivoli: as much to see the movies as to escape the heat?

@moose I put that. It was trying to emphasize the refuge that AC provides

Did you guys put something with preconceived notions for the apes passage?

@optimoose
yes that was the answer
and it was responding to the problem

@KBronx

Yes, it sounds better, but it doesn’t make any sense.

blueeggsandham- Thanks, that makes a lot of sense. But it makes sense only if the question said the ALL of the kids who were absent represent 5% of the student body. For some reason I remember the question saying that the kids who missed ONE Day were 5%, I dont know if I could just make up something like that but everybody seems to agree so i must be wrong.

Meh idk it sounded better than nevertheless to me

and if anyone can try to think of the first few writing questions in the 35q section i’d be gratefulll

as much to see the movies as to escape the heat - I put that too

For the differences between Passage 1 and Passage 2 on creative writing did anyone put that Passage 1 focuses on reflecting on personal experiences while Passage 2 doesn’t at all?

The StudiousMaximus guy won’t give it up that the answer was commercialization, not circular motion. I’m also pretty positive that for the Passage 1/2 with the writing groups that the answer was “useful but not necessary”

Yeah ^^ that was one of the answers but I’m talking about another question. It asked for the difference between the 2 passages.

30) something about placing sentence after 12
31) something with carrier’s device sounds better
32) responding to this problem
33) as much to see the movies as to escape the heat
34) best way to combine sentences
35) best concluding sentence

I agree with the answer of moose

Did you get answer that contained preconceived notions for apes passage?

^Thank you. What did you say the father’s sieve was?

rajraj you seem to remember mad stuffs so do you remember any of the first few? LOLL thanks

and for the diff. between the two passages does anyone remember the other choices?
i’m pretty sure i didn’t put one reflects or whatever

The other option that people seemed to put was peer editing, but it’s weird because Passage 2 didn’t talk jack **** about reflecting on life experiences. It mentioned a class which is a peer-based system so that’s why I picked personal experiences.

1.) were the passages about an intern coming to america and one about earth, venus, and mars experimental?
2.) and can i get confirmation for the yoyo question please. was one of the answers “commercial advertisement is often the answer to everything” or something like that? I was stuck between that one and the one that said “America commonly has answers to problems”, but i picked the former cuz i thought that they wouldnt say that America was so smart on a standardized test LOL
