October 2014 ACT discussion thread

My daughter got to experience the delay in ACT scores in June. She was one of the last to receive her scores from that test date. Its the luck of the draw as to who’s scores are delayed. Unfortunately, most students/parents do not understand this and taking the ACT your senior year you run the risk of delayed scores as application deadlines near.

Wow, exact same scores, at least this one was w/ writing so it actually counts
June 2014(non writing) - C 32 R 31 S 32 E 32 M 34
October 2014(writing) - C 32 R 34 S 32 E 31 M 32
Superscore - C 33 R 34 S 32 E 32 M 34

Should I bother sending SAT scores?
January 2014 Math 740 CR 610 W 590 1940 composite
June 2014 Math 700 CR 650 W 630 1980 composite
Superscore Math 740 CR 650 W 630 2020 composite

How logical would it be to take the ACT 4 times, each time studying intensively one area(R, S, E, M) and shooting for a 36 in that area, then superscoring everything at the end and hopefully ending up with a 36 superscore?
Scenario (extreme situation)
1st sitting: C 17 R 36 S 11 E 11 M 11
2nd sitting: C 17 R 11 S 36 E 11 M 11
3rd sitting: C 17 R 11 S 11 E 36 M 11
Final sitting: C 17 R 11 S 11 E 11 M 36
Superscore: C 36 R 36 S 36 E 36 M 36

Theres no logic to that plan at all

@RRRHHH‌ I also got that message, but the ACT live chat ppl just asserted that it just means that they received the answer sheet and is about to get it scored.

Now with writing–

COMPOSITE: 31
E: 35
M: 28
R: 33
S: 28
Essay: 8

Best of luck to those of you still waiting; maybe you’re still waiting because the ACT people couldn’t believe how fantastic you did.

@ThatPurpleKoala‌ Nice job! Congrats.

About how long after your regular score did they post your essay? I have my composite but I don’t have my essay yet.

@JuniorBengal‌

My composite was up by 7 AM EST, and my writing was up by 3:30 PM EST.

And thank you! Hope you did well! :)

@austin23 I wrote about 2-2.5 pages. I’m surprised I got a 10. I felt my essay that got an 8 was better. But I won’t argue with them lol

yes. I took act on this september and i got 32 but i expect october score to be about 34~35

Congratulations to everyone who did well you are all remarkable. I got a 28 a 2nd time and I am so frustrated…

so does anyone think they know what the curve was?

Interesting…It keeps on showing that I don’t have access to see the scores yet for some reason…

Nothing changed here…still registered.

Anyone know what’s the difference between those who have status of ‘registered’ and those who have status of ‘tested’ but havent gotten their scores (a.k.a and their ‘score view’ directs to some page that says they are going under quality assurance)?

Does the ACT release test scores by Testing Location? Because everyone that took the test with me have gotten their scores except for one of my friends and me. This is so frustrating…

haha nice job man! :smiley:
I took it in India, you?

@YOLOOLOY‌
I took it India, how about you?

Great to hear that are scores are out and hope everyone did great.

I just wanted to have a quick clarification just one last time. Son got “dismal” 26 (composite). He did exactly what he said he was going to do. He took the test to focus just on science to get above 30 and not stress over the other sections (E,M, R). He got a 33 in science.

Should I send this score to the universities that super score? Or will it look bad with the composite of 26 bad compared to the 33 he got last time?

As far as I can tell, Duke only super scores sections but does not re-calculate the composite so I don’t know if it would make any difference. I also do not know if they do any type of test trending.

I understand that everyone is busy and may not have time to respond but thanks in advance to the ones who do.

My writing score isn’t online yet, but:
Composite: 31
E: 35
M: 26
S: 27
R: 34
Not bad for someone who didn’t study! Congratulations to everyone and I hope your scores come out soon :)
