***October 2015 SAT (US Only) Thread***

@kingofpotato Underpinning also means basis, so my reasoning was that since we know the basis of volcanoes and ice sheets, they aren’t bizarre

@collegeinspired You must have taken the International version. the October International SAT thread also mentions that essay question.

I see your points. Still think counterparts is a better choice @grparker21

^ Yea I also put underpinning cuz counterpart just looked really awkward in that situation. However, I do believe it is the right answer…(fml)

@kingofpotato Yeah I might have overthought that one. I changed my answer from counterparts. Also, do you remember if consigned and circumscribed was correct for one of the vocab questions?

do u remember the whole sentence?

I hesitated between the (exploited, meandering) and (consigned to, circumscribed). Put down the second one at the end. Do believe it’s the right answer

Counterpart - a person or thing holding a position or performing a function that corresponds to that of another person or thing in another place.

It was about black rhinos

Guys what was the shakespeare question? I wanted answer the one with dispute as the second word, but I hesitated cuz I didn’t know what the first one meant so I chose B, which was collaborative and shared authorship I think. I knew it was likely gonna be wrong…

It was consigned to, circumscribed for sure.

collaborative and shared is correct.

You are right. It’s B. A was wrong @yolomaster98

YESSSSSS OMG LOLLLLLLLL

how do you think the curve is gonna be

was there a “finicky” somewhere

So far, I know I missed at least 1 (finicky).
The jury is still out on (all answers below were my own):
The repetitions were a punishment distinct to zen
The teacher implies that she is very demanding of her students
Trace the origin of a method
Ominous…
So I can still score anywhere between 800 and 740.

Counterparts correct @ambitionsquared

I hope the curve is: -2 CR: 800 ; -3 CR: 790
-1 M: 780 ; -2 M: 760
11 E with -2: 800

Critical reading questions!

  1. Emphatic vs. analytical?
  2. For the Zen (Jap teacher) passage, origins of zen vs. rationale behind her action?
  3. For the Internet/books passage, historical comparison vs. personal experience?
  4. For the Zen (Japanese teacher) passage, weary of her profession vs. details relatively unimportant?
