October 22 2011 ACT Science Discush

Investigate the science section

I’ll start: it was awful.

really? i thought it was fairly easy compared to other ones

this one seemed harder than all of the other science tests i’ve taken. i had to guess on the last 8 or so because i didnt finish

much easier than september

what forms did everyone have?

71a you guys?

i had 71a as well

Was the voltage at which the Diode was most conducive to electricity at 0.80V?

AGGH! Yes, I remember that one. I had to guess–that one required outside knowledge. Come on ACT!

i’ve never taken physics, and there were two physics passages that seemed to require a little outside knowledge

Although knowing what a genus is is probably considered “basic” biology, it threw me off that a passage required that knowledge.

same with the “invasive species” question. I knew the answer because i’m in AP Bio, but if i wasn’t in that class i wouldn’t have known it

Can anyone verify my question about the 0.80V? Lol

I agree with 0.80, and it didn’t require outside knowledge.

I’m sorry Calculi. I remember the question you’re referring to but I can’t remember the answer. I think that .8 on the Voltage axis related to a low point on the Y axis for the curve it asked about, but I could be completely wrong…

Also, the question that asked at what volume (I think volume, maybe another unit) would the solution be neutral was surprising. I knew the answer, but I almost didn’t make the connection between the graph and knowing that a neutral pH is 7. Again, some outside knowledge.

.80, it didn’t require outside knowledge.
This science section was far easier than September, I’m pulling for a 33 on this one.

curve?
does -2 have a chance for 35 or 34?

what about -3?
i haven’t taken many science act tests—any help is appreciated. I’ve looked at the pdf’s but I think curves depend on the test. So, what do you guys think about this one?

Volume was between 19 and 21

and if you doubled molarity—was it less and less?
