**October ACT Thread**

For the which one can be least acceptable for "motivate", I put "influence" as the odd one out because it was, like Shobhit said, the only one that wasn't a synonym for encourage or motivate. It was stuch between it and induce, but at the end chose influence.

hate to burst your bubble but the answer was induce!

lol, you could be right. emphasis on "could". but i strongly feel it was influence, especially after looking over the dictionary definitions of the choices. you haven't burst my bubble yet.

I'm pretty sure it was induce....
influence can be used similarily to motivate.

For the golf on I think I got 10. I assigned the tee coordinates (0,0). Then I counted how many spaces down and over it took to get to the hole. Then I used the distance formula to get my answer. How did everyone else do it.

i used a2+b2=c2 to get my answer.

for one of the math questions in the very beginning where you were supposed to get the hypotenuse of a triangle was the answer 25? because i remember it didn't come out exact...

Puppetzz, I used the same method and got the same answer.

10 for golf hypotenuse

it was a 3-4-5 triangle, right?

Stupid World Series. Had to be the night before. Why couldn't it have rained out!!!!

why did you have to watch it!!!
lol

I wasn't allowed to write in the answer booklet to do scratch work and stuff. They gave us extra paper to do that. Is that normal?

that's really strange....

wait, are you international?

what did everyone put on the special olympics question about the paragraph where it talked about how his brother participated and how more serious competitors participated where the choices were something like:
In contrast
In conclusion
... I dont remember the rest, but I put In contrast

I put contrast as well.

I put In contrast too. Also, the influence/induce question was from this passage; I put influence. For the "volunteer huggers" question, it is supposed to be moved right before the sentence that talks about the huggers (about 3 sentences later).

yeah. the hugger passage only made sense in the sentence that mentioned the huggers. I think it was actually moving it backwards to the previous page.

Yeah I took the test i Canada. why?

weird - our proctor said we couldnt use scratch paper and HAD to do our work in the test booklet
