October SAT Math

No, there wasn't.

Naeem, you're very close... but when u divide 16,u got a+b=4, what makes u so sure that a = 2? i think ther was another equation,u have to make them equal, a=34

those numbers could be anything when you take negatives into account.

a+b=64
(a+b)/(a-b)=16

b=64-a
(a+64-a)/(a-(64-a))=16
(64)/(2a -64)=16
64= 32a - 1024
1088=32a
34=a

easy eh? :D

wait for those of you who got 864 or w/e on the area of rec...what question was that cuz I don't remember getting 864 T.T

Okay, I want to get this straight lol, what was the correct answer for the shaded region question?

11 teams...dammit are you sure they said it had to be EVEN numbers?!?

I put 16...

someone explain why the f and -f questions if x^3 + x please.

:P ahntimmy you did it the hard way!

a-b=64

a-b/a+b=16

so, 64/a+b=16

a+b=4
a-b=64

2a=68, a=34 ~_~

Fashionista!:

(-x)^3 + (-x) = -(x^3 + x)
-x^3 - x = -x^3 - x

864 was the volume of the recatangular prism. 6624= 864

everyone knows that Anhtimmy is noob :D
jk bro,but yea why are u using long ways lol.
voodoo_santa, 864 is the one they give u 8 edges with length 6 or something,another 4 edges with 8 or something, they ask u to find the area...

wait so:

x^2+kx-10
25 + 5k - 10 = 0 then solve for k

they gave both of those equations? you can find k by simply solving. or did you only get the first equation? if we only got the first one then how can you choice what to plug in for x? the answer choices? was "x^2+kx-10" in fact "x^2+kx-10 = 0" ?

thanks. i omitted this one from lack of time...

No, they gave you one equation and implied that x=5.

so 25 +5k - 10 = 0

15+5k=0
5k=-15,
k=-3

WantIvy, what'd you get for the shaded region problem?

wow that one is stupid-easy. and nevermind, i'm getting confused, i did do that one.

Thanks. Right. I just tried to remember whether I put down -3 or 5 because I think I did not encounter a -3. I just know that there is 25-15-10=0, but I dont know anything else.
I am hoping to get an 800 or at least >760.

The one with the triangle?

That is indubitably 18rt3 - 6pi. Answer choice C ( i may have messed up that answer because it's from memory).

Last question of one of the sections right?

6*6rt3 / 2 = 18rt3

Then, you have to subtract area of a sector:
n/360 * pir^2
60/360 * pi(36)=6pi
so,

18rt3 - 6pi. i think.

yeah, that's what I got. I'm just confused because most people are saying that they got 18sqrt2 - 6pi as an answer.

I know that many people had posted some answers in around page 10. Can anyone sum up most of the answers with brief questions? That would be really helpful. I could also contribute to the list.

the shaded region was just:

[area of whole triangle] - [area of circle * (degree of sector/360)]

i thought it was easy but i have no remembrance of what i put. i do remember it was something minus something rather than a whole.

what do you need to know? I can help.
trying to to find a question I missed. an 800 just doesn't seem realistic for me o_o
