OCTOBER SAT Subject Test: French

XD Thanks, although my lack of actually knowing answers probably doesn't help... lol.

Hmmm I thought he asked for wine but I wasn't sure if she gave it to him or not.

I don't remember the first question about the advertisement... uhmmm I think I chose the one with "energie" in it lol.

I dunno what the term is for visits to the home but the ad said "domesticile" or "domestique" or something and the answer I chose had "foyer" in it?! It didn't really make sense to me though 'cause I don't think animal-sitting companies actually visit the people's homes... OHHH unless it was either "bring your animals to stay at Animada OR we can come to your home to take care of them"!! Then that option would make sense...

ughhhhhhhhhhh darn frenchhhh
kaznack, i agree with you! I have taken AP french but for some awful reason i found this test harder!!

for animado i think one of the options was a host family

it had "accueil" which means host/home i think

sooooo i think it was home visits, but i didn't know what "foyer" meant. i'm pretty sure that's the right answer

"Rang" is right, I think.

For the Animado one, it was choice A. I can't remember what the choice was called but it was the one that DIDN'T say foyer. Pretty sure about that one because I checked it as soon as I got home.

The one about the fisherman: the aunt was surprised, he ate his fish with oil (vinegar wasn't one of the choices), the drawings were fantastique...

For the cleaning up the city passage, what was the purpose of the clean-up? There was a choice about cultural education and... one other that sounded pretty convincing. Did anyone get that?

And the birth certificate one is from "la mairie", right? What does le doueur even mean? I tried to look it up but it wasn't there.

Dang it! Why was this test so hard? I took AP French and it was still really difficult. I hope the curve is really low for this one!

Oh one last question. For the "Quand j'ai telephone... vous _______" question: was the answer "etudiiez?" I'm pretty sure it was, but just wanted to check answers.

The dancers one is "nettement;" I just checked it here.

[url=http://www.wordreference.com/fren/nettement]nettement - Dictionnaire Fran

WAIT I TOTALLY PUT THAT!

My logic was that "net" reminds me of "overall" (like "net gain" or whatever)... lmao. Which has nothing to do with the actual etymology. But I got it!

Wait why wasn't the answer to the fish one wine? :[

Uhm I didn't put the cultural education; I put whatever was B, I think. Ameliorating somethin'.

"La mairie" is right (it's like a city hall or whatever); "la douane" is customs.

I put "etudiiez." At first glance I thought it was a typo and then I was like "oh lawl imparfait."

Are you referring to la douane, which means "customs"?

Wait...

Didn't the man eat his fish with butter?

I thought the passage said that the fish was cooked with oil, but the question asked what the man ate the fish with.

No, it said he put two dabs of oil on the fish. "deux -somethings- de l'huile sur la chair..."
la chair = flesh

Wow... I've missed a lot so far. :(

No one has talked about the candy passage yet.

I believe the following two questions were asked:

What's the most important aspect of this advertisement?
- I put "the candy is healthy and nutritious".

Where would one find this candy?
- I guessed on this one; I put "la patisserie".

THERE WAS A PASSAGE ABOUT CANDY?!

I don't think I understood a word of it, then.

I'm talking about the advertisement that had the kids with the baseball equipment.
In the top-right corner, there was a box of granola bars, or something...

OHHHHHH! I thought they were more like nutrition bars. Omg you have no idea how relieved I am!

Uhm I said you'd find it at somewhere that sells medicine. I have no idea why I said that. I think it said in the ad "chez la pharmacien" or something lol. Or at least something that I interpreted that way but probably meant nothing of the sort...

Yeah...

You're probably right...

No but that doesn't make sense. Doctors selling nutrition bars? Lul. I mean I know they had vitamins and minerals but... ehh.

yea, i put le tapis for the empty theater one...
and peleginge (or sth like that) for the flower passage...
i thought it was definitely easier than the june one (where i skipped like 20 questions..)
this time I actually finished

i said the medicine place too because the candy/food is nutricious and good for your body

It makes more sense than "patisserie" because nutrition bars aren't pastries.

uh oh i got the "la douane" wrong

For the passage about the man observing his surroundings:

What answers did you guys get?
