OCTOBER SAT Subject Test: Math Level 2

Are you guys sure it's 2? That's what I put without any knowledge of stats but it seems too easy to be the answer to the second to last question.

Well, the range doesn't have to be 1 to 4 if it's not continuous on the interval and only includes the integers.

I didn't get a chance to work on the last question though...

12) x = -3

wahts the question?

Actually it was 30pi and $550...

oooh the one whihc was which is not a fucntion of x
wiht all teh graphs
i had NO IDEA

oh ...wow...shows how much math i can do...

what was that one that was like which of the following decreases (or was it increases?) as pi/4 becomes pi/3

I put the answer as 1/cosx but there was another answer that was tanx/sinx which is also the same thing as 1/cosx
anyone remember?

@grahams
a function passes a vertical line test. E didnt.

the decreasing one is 1/sinx

yes i got 1/cosx

i think it was 1/sinx

also, Hippo, you're probably right, but wouldn't it be -1, 2 then?

Yeah I got 1/sinx

^Actually, I think the answer was 1/sinx. Think of it this way. First, change it from radians to degrees. So the angle changes from 45 to 60. Then angle is getting larger, so that means the sine is increasing and the cosine is decreasing. Because of this, 1/cosx would be getting larger because the denominator is getting smaller while 1/sinx is getting smaller because the denominator is increasing.
49) z score and standard deviation problem: [it doubles]
Actually, it stays the same. The sample mean, the value, and the standard deviation all double; the effect is like multiplying by 2/2, or one. (Believe me, I took AP Stats last year.)

How does the z-score double? I thought it remained the same.

ooops i meant 1/sinx

errghh, i can't remember which one i put in, 1/sinx or 1/cos x!! smacks head

proletariat, you're right!! AGHHH. the standard deviation also doubles..i totally forgot about that.

so now it's -2 + a bunch skipped. 600 here i come.

Please read the top (currently) sticky about posting test questions.

Moderator gcf101

does z score double or stay the same?

For the last problem, I got [2, 1/2, -1] or something like that. You can have three numbers for the range, to whoever said that you can't. Those three numbers are basically recycled.

grahams - Z score stays the same.

Does anyone know what 4 omitted and 2-3 wrong would be?
