October SSAT

Good luck to those writing today, let’s check in later in the day to comment on how it went.

Yeah, it had “ye olde English poem” again, per GoatKid2’s report. Overall not bad, although the vocab and math apparently were a bit harder than the practice tests in the SSAT study guide. Good luck to all!

Whew, just finished mine!

First off, you just got to love those proctors who make you turn your pockets inside out to check literally everywhere on your body

I thought that everything seemed fairly normal, but when I saw that poem first thing in front of me, I swear I internally shed a tear lol :((

Couple of Reading passages were slightly difficult (“ye olde English”), overall a bit harder than a couple of official practice tests. Assume the test is “normed” vs. other Fall SSATs to equalize levels of difficulty.

As you may recall, I wrote about that “Ye Olde English Poem” last year! Arrgghhh! Remember kids to pace yourself and skip an item that you may get stuck on…then return, if you have time. Please, let us know how it all works out. Very few middle school students have been exposed to that type of poetry. So don’t fret. Likewise, this is not a passage that is typically seen in the SSAT prep books. While kiddo had read Shakespearean plays in 8th grade, this particular poem was more advanced material than SSAT.
Wishing you all good luck!

AND (drum roll)
“Good luck lies in odd numbers”…hoping your numbers are lucky! :x
