ACT: 24 >_< (30+ in science/math...English dragged me down though, because English isn't my first language -- I didn't mention that on the app, although I probably should have.

Extracurricular: This is my weak point, if you don't consider the other points weak already, but, well...I'm part of a Volunteering club at my school, where we do community service and volunteer at other organizations. That's about it though =/

High School: 938th highest ranked High School in the US

I dunno, man. In other years, I probably would’ve pegged you as in, but there are kids in my school with scores equal to and slightly above yours that are getting deferral letters, not to mention you’re below MSU’s average for GPA and ACT. At this point, I’d call it a slight reach. Good luck though!

an AC stand for Accelerated. More-or-less, it means it’s an advanced class according to my school, it’s not quite to the level an AP class is at (in terms of national recognition), however it is faster paced than normal classes. If a class has a AC tag on it you get a slight grade boost (a B would go to a B+ or an A- would go to an A)

I’m with crono. It’s a slight reach. The GPA is in the bottom 25% and the ACT is in the 25-50% range. You are exactly the type of applicant that they look for good ECs from (since you are borderline-territory with many others).

I had similar stats (between 3.4-3.5 GPA and 25 act) and I got in. All my stuff was received by September 1st though. I think you have a decent shot. I know how you feel; waiting for the letter is so nerve wracking. Good luck!

A friend of mine got in last year with the exact same stats. She, however, submitted her application in early september. Just because of the later timing, I’m guessing MSU will request your 7th semester grades, but after that I expect you’ll get in (provided those grades you are submitting are good).

Right now, assuming I don’t bomb one of my finals I’m expecting a 3.5-3.6 GPA for S7, hopefully that is enough. I’m really counting on this MSU application to go through because I’m paying for college myself and I want to stay in this region to help cut costs, which pretty much eliminates OOS schools. I got accepted to Western and Central, but I don’t really want to go there because when I looked at their respective campuses, it felt just like my high school (largest high school in Michigan) all over again, which is why I like state, because it actually feels like college to me.

Sorry, I was under the impression that my school was the largest in Michigan, I could have sworn that it was, however, I did not, I went/go to Pioneer (Ann Arbor)

One more question, sorry to be a bother, I’m just really stressing.

When I was little (Elementary School) I went to a school where half of our day was spent learning Hebrew, and the other half was split between everything else, so I was (and still am) not very good at English. Anyways, on to my point. MSU is telling me that they are “currently in the process of processing my application”, so is it to late to retake the ACT in February, in hopes of getting a better score, or will it be too late by then.

What are my chances for MSU with a 3.1 UW, highly competitive high school (FHPS schools), 30ACT, 4+ AP courses, 2 varsity sports, various leadership roles (President,co-founder of Diversity club, B-ball club, etc), and unique background? Im pretty sure my super low GPA will bring me down a LOOOOTTT
