There's no doubt about it: swallowing hurts. However, a lot of other things are triggered by the sore throat. Has your throat ever hurt so much your EARS hurt? And knowing how illnesses work, we often suffer from one or more symptoms, such as runny noses. Ever blow your nose and actually feel a part of your throat dying in the process?

If so, you know it sucks.

Any remedies anybody? (It's so bad that it woke me up!) I'd gladly appreciate anything!

sneezy I actually once felt the same, my throat hurt so much I couldn't fall asleep. I took some flue pills and the soreness went away for like a day or two, then it came back. It turned out to be a lot worse than a simple flue, I ended up taking serious IV antibiotics because it was some sort of wierd bacteria I caught during my volunteering at the hospital...if the soreness presists in its intensity you might wanna get it looked at.

Here, my remedy: Chicken soup, tylenol cold, airborne, rest, rest, rest, rest, more chicken soup, more tylenol/airborne, rest, more rest, stay warm. If your ears start hurting, take any pill with amoxicillin (I'm not sure if I spelled that right. Consult a pharmacist first before taking anything other than airborne and tylenol.)

Being sick really sucks. Last year I had a terrible flu while we were in Switzerland skiing. It was awful.

I can't recommend any remedies because I doubt you'd have the stuff we use here. Europeans are big on homeopathic remedies, which are questionable as to their effectiveness.

Oh, you have my sympathies. That totally sucks. Sore throats are the worst symptoms. I like to drink peppermint tea when I'm sick because it's warm and soothing. It eases the pain a bit.

Thanks for all the sympathy. While my throat still hurts, it wasn't as bad as before. I had a tiny piece of fruit lodged in my throat for the longest timeow!

you always get worse before you feel better. for me, chai tea works insanely well along with plain water. take vitamin c and rest. nyquill (sp?) works for one of my friends, but I've never tried it.

i know i sound ridiculous, but i actually wish i had cold right now. i hate headaches and soar throats, but i could live with sneezing and stuffy nose. i could really use some pity from my mom right now.
