Off Campus Apartments around UF?

Does anyone live in an apartment off campus? I'm going to start in the fall and my boyfriend will be attending Santa Fe, so we're getting an off campus apartment together. Does anyone have any personal experiences with apartments around campus? Annnd... how much is the average monthly rent for a one-bedroom? I've been researching them and it looks to be around $600-700.

i know my friends generally spend $350-500 /month for an apartment

600-700 is the really expensive apartments/condos in gainesville

Really?! Where are these? I know the communal-style apartments are cheaper, but we really want our own apartment. Do you know the names of any of these apartments? :)

I am really bad with off-campus stuff b/c I have been on-campus for 3 yrs. I found some websites with info on website. Also take the rates with a "grain of salt" (I think thats the expression), because usually the people that go to these websites are the ones that have bad experience and not the ones who like it. The first ones seems the best, the second gives rates, and the third is a local company in gville

Check Cabana Beach if you want the newest and nicest

ew no you must work for cabana beach

too bad for how new they are they are basically the biggest piece of crap in gainesville

they weren't ready in time for school, they never fix anything, riots in the complex, they are having to let people out of their leases early...

1 bed/1 bath or studio/efficiency?

1 bed/1 bath. Studios would become a little too crowded with two people.

yeah, that's going to be about $600-700 before utilities. you might be able to get a really crappy one for cheaper, but I don't know where. My one-bedroom was $620 with water only included and I wouldn't recommend that place to anyone.

Try Apartment Hunters or The Leasing Connection (google them). Not the best places to use if you rely solely on them, but they're free services and they'll at least give you a starting point.
