off campus housing

My son is a freshman at UF this year and wants to move into an apartment for his sophmore year. Any suggestions on decent apartments not too far from campus would be much appreciated. We are trying to stay within the $500 per month range. Thanks

I have a bunch of off campus housing links that you could look at.

This ought to keep you busy for a while. The first link, trimark, has many apartments on its website. Good luck.

Look into Oxford Manor.

Or the Courtyards.

Hate to add another question, but, for those who live in off-campus apartments, when did you pick them out and sign a lease in order to get them for August?

1.) I would not recommend the courtyards.

2.) For the first time I lived off-campus, I signed a lease at the end of the spring semester. However, you can leases in July and still get an apartment for August. So I wouldn't worry too much.

Does anyone have any thoughts on University Commons on Archer Road?? Any feedback would be appreciated.

kklicker, University Commons is not bad. It has a very good price, which makes it attractive for students. The only thing that is annoying is that it is the last stop for the bus routes (9 and 35), so at times it is difficult to get on the bus to get to class on time.

yea i live two stops before university commons and the bus is pretty full already then during busy times but its not a big deal as long as you give yourself plenty of time, also on the way home you have three bus routes to chose from(9, 35, 36) so thats a plus

Thanks for all the replies. If anyone currently lives in any of the apartments suggested I would love to hear from them. Any other suggestions are also welcome. Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!!

Check out Apartment Hunters, which is located in Gainesville. They are really good.
