Due to location and cost, I won't be able to attend either of these on campus (I most likely won't be able to visit campus at all); to make up for it, I am attending the off campus events near my town. What should I wear to these events? I don't want to look lazy, but I also don't want to be too formal compared to others. Does anyone know exactly what to expect at the Discover USC event and the interview?

When attending a Discover USC event, on or off campus, it does not matter what you wear - whatever is comfortable. If you are attending the event and just hoping to chat with a USC representative, don’t worry about it.

When interviewing, however, you should dress professionally. If you have reserved an interview time, dress as though the interview is important to you.

Discover SC events in the Atlanta area are held in an upscale hotel in the Buckhead area.
I have attended many of these. Male students wear khakis or nice pants and a shirt with a collar. Women wear a business type dress or nice pants and top. I have not seen any students in a suit. Ours are always in the afternoon, so it seems a bit less formal.

I would guess if the event in your area is held at a school the attire might be more casual.

The events held here never include interviews, so I have no advice about what to wear. I have seen comments from Marshall that students are expected to wear “business attire” for interviews held on campus.

SC sends quite a few representatives from the university to these receptions. There is time after the presentation (long) to break up into small groups and ask questions. Alumni are there to assist the admission committee members. At the Atlanta event the reception room is usually completely filled.
