Off Campus Dorms

The Cambridge at College Station looks far more appealing than any of the on campus college dorms. Does anyone have any information about it?

Hear's a URL to The Cambridge's web site:

thank you for the link. Does anyone have the positives or negatives of living in an offcampus dorm first year? And about the Cambridge in particular?

I don't know if you have been in a TAMU dorm but some of the newer ones are pretty nice compared to dorms on other college campuses.

The rooms are ~400 sq ft and have a private bath. The room charges include once a week maid service to clean the bath, a cable TV connection, and high speed Internet. They basically like a budget motel room.

If you have a vehicle, you can get a space in a parking structure w/i a block of your dorm. Permits start @ ~$400 per year.

On campus dorms have the advantage of being w/i walking distance of most campus activities as well as being on the shuttle bus line.

About the only drawbacks that I can think of are that they don't have mailboxes (you have to rent a P.O. box) and they don't have elevators (a lot of exercise if you are moving in or moving out of a 4th Floor room).
