Off Campus Housing

hello! I am a transferring student to FSU this upcoming Fall of 2012 semester.I would like to know about the following off campus complexes:
-Legacy Suites
-heritage Grove
-Villa del Lago
-West 10
-Polo Club
-Heritage Parks
Thank You!

Legacy suites- eh ok that wouldn’t be my top option

heritage grove- unless your in a frat I would not want to live hear. Mostly everyone here is in a frat though there are some not in frat. There will probably always be something going on if you know someone in a frat

Villa del Lago- I have only heard bad news from people living here. Loud and quite a little distance from campus. Though when I have been I liked the layout of the apartments myself personally.

West 10- Nice used to be the top place to live in tallahassee now with newer complexes it has dropped a bit and I heard that the price has dropped as well. Used to have the best and I mean best pool party on saturdays around

Polo Club- Alright I know a couple people living there nothing fancy nothing really bad about it

Heritage Parks- never heard of anyone living there.

If it were me with those choices I would go West10.

If I were to offer some advice I would look at Campus Circle, Grand Marc, and Retreat. CC and Retreat are brand new and very different most of those complexes you listed are far from campus. Let me add parking is beyond horrible at FSU. Grand Marc is right across from campus very secure and pretty nice I lived there and loved it. I am only switching to CC because it is brand new and maybe a quarter mile further walk to campus its right behind taco bell and across from momos. Retreat is out there a distance but nice as well

Here are the ones I know specifically about.

-Villa del Lago-- Has more of a bad rep then it really is. Mostly college students, thus it had a bit of college pride about it. The cheaper rent then other place.

-Polo Club-- Nicely laid out, from what I know the rent here is higher then the others surrounding complexes. Relatively new also.

May I reccomend 1111 High. Its across the street from Polo Club. From last years offers (I haven’t read this years) they had the best bang for your buck deals. You can pick from 2BR and 2BA or 3BR and 2BA style apartments. The 3BR has allot of living room space. Washer and dryer within the room itself, nice sized kitchen. I know one of the people in the leasing office and can put you in direct contact with them if you’d like.

Polo and 1111 is not exactly walking distance, but biking distance to the main campus and the ‘Nole Express’ bus stop right in front of it. Close by to the Tennessee ST strip. Most people at 1111 are fellow college students and most keep to themselves, thus its never really obnoxiously loud.

West 10 is highly overpriced. Paying essentially for all those study rooms and giant pool, fancy clubhouse and the Works. I don’t know about you, but I care about the room I’m staying in. West 10 is definitely a luxurious sort of place though.

Legacy Suites is pretty solid, nice and rather New. Good parking Garage. Bedrooms are decent sized and the pool isn’t bad Either.

Heritage grove: wouldn’t even consider unless you are involved in Greek life

Polo club: pretty solid nothing bad

Villa del lago: not a big fan of student housing solutions heard a lot of bad things about checking out from those places they try and charge you ridiculous fees for the slightest things

It looks like Studio Green at Brevard/Woodward is being demolished. Does anyone know what will replace it. Curious. ??

Thanks David

Heritage Park is a great place to live. Very quiet, surrounded by trees, and has a nature trail that leads to the San Luis Mission Park (has a lake, dog park, and is quite nice to run around/relax at). I’d say the only bad thing about it is that (at least in the apartment I have spent a lot of time at) there is no washer and dryer in each unit, but in a community laundry room. Otherwise, it’s a great place  They have a pool and tennis court as well!

Also, Sid is right about STU. They will charge you out of the behind when you move out. Best not to live with them. My boyfriend lived in a STU apartment and hated it, and was charged hundreds after leaving. Luckily, he took pictures and was able to get out a few of their charges, but still had to pay for stuff that was not even his fault. Anyway, he lives in Heritage Park now and loves it!
