Off campus housing

I have not seen a recent thread about this. What is the best way for a student to locate affordable off campus housing? Preference is for 3 bedrooms for 3 people if this makes a difference.

I would also like to know more information about off-campus housing for one person though. I know that they have several off-campus apartments, but I am not sure how the pricing works and if it’s covered through our financial aid that is provided.

Your options include walking around apartments looking for lease signs, inquiring at respective leasing offices; online listings websites; asking friends if they know people with places to rent or are looking for roommates.

UCLA does have university apartments, but sign up process is analogous to signing up for on-campus (dorm) housing. Instead of picking a dorm room, you pick a UCLA-owned apartment room.

Financial aid is determined by cost of attendance subtracted by expected family contribution. Financial aid pays off registration fees first, then any leftover funds are refunded to you. You can use leftover funds to pay for housing costs. Financial aid is dependent on housing status, whether off-campus, on-campus, or commuting.
