Off Campus Housing?

Any suggestions, my son may not be able to get into the dorms, but not sure yet. He has a prioority date of 3/21/06 but wasn't accepted into UF until last week. Any recommendations for off campus housing?

I saw something on another thread: <a href="http://www.trimarkproperties.com/%5B/url%5D">http://www.trimarkproperties.com/</a></p>

I looked up something that said "Ivy House" it said sorority style off campus housing, is this for girls only then?

towne parc is where me and a bunch of my friends from my high school are living

Try Windsor Hall. It is just a 2 block walk to campus and has available rooms still.

<a href="http://www.windsorhall.com/%5B/url%5D">http://www.windsorhall.com/</a></p>

I've heard terrible things about Windsor Hall, not to mention the fact that it's way too expensive for what you get. There's a reason that such a small complex (relatively) still has available rooms in May.

Trimark is also overpriced, but if your son's only priority is being able to walk to campus, you might consider them.

He will probably get into the dorms with that priority date, he just might not get his top choice of dorm/room style and be stuck in a triple or something for a while. If he really doesn't get in and he doesn't have his heart set on dorm style, I would recommend an apartment a bit farther away from campus (but still close enough to easily bike/ride a bus/drive to school). They tend to be much nicer, larger, and less expensive and they also have better amenities.

What terrible things? For instance..................?

Lexington Crossings (about $400-450 a month)
University Commons (~$350)
University Terrace
The Polos of Gainesville's

Some of the ones were my friends live.

+1 on Lexington Crossings. My son lives there and has his own bedroom and bathroom for 450 a month. Shares a kitchen, living room, and laundry with three other guys. On 2 bus routes that serves campus and is an easy bike commute away...

Kirst - Please share the negative things you heard about Windsor Hall. It looks great on the website. It it just expensive, or are there other problems?

If my priority date on the waiting list is 4/24, what are my chances of getting on campus housing?

I'm sure there are some people there that like it. If you are looking for a dorm environment, it is probably fine, as long as you realize that you're paying more for that than you would for a nice apartment - however, if you are female I still think places like the Ivy House are better. I had a two friends who lived in Windsor Hall for one year, and they had major problems with cleanliness, noise levels, the attitudes of the RAs/office staff, and simple stuff like just getting their mail.

dreamer88, I'm not sure about your priority date since it changes a bit from year to year...if you call housing, they may be able to help you (or they may just tell you they don't know yet, but it can't hurt to ask). good luck!

Great, I'll check out Ivy House. I think for my freshman year I want the dorm style housing. I'll get a better apartment when I'm older. Is Ivy House coed? It doesn't say it is on the website.
