Going into sophomore year, and I've JUST decided to attempt to cancel my on campus housing contract and live off campus. If my contract is canceled, I realize I've left it a little late to have a decent selection of off-campus living. That said, does anyone have any recommendations or pros/cons of apartment complexes in the area, specifically around the NE end of campus? Probably looking for a 1bed-1bath, but there are so many complexes....

Northeast, like… north of University? There’s Hidden Lake, which a lot of people like. I’m not sure if they have 1 bed/1 bath, though… that’s probably going to be hard to find this late in the game. Not necessarily apartments in general, but 1 bedrooms…

I’m living SE myself, so i’m not sure about the NE apartments, but I found this very useful when looking at places to live.

You can call GRU at 352-334-3434 or 1-800-818-3436 and ask for the average monthly utility bill at that location. Make sure if its an apartment to ask the landlords or managers which apartment number is the apartment type you want (i.e. 2/2 with no w/d and so forth). We were offered 2 apartments, one had ~$180 utilities and the other had ~$120. You can imagine which one we grabbed, haha.

Also, for those of us that are planning on moving to unfurnished apartments and taking our rooms with us (lol) make sure you call budget, penske, ryder, and uhaul and get quotes from all of them. Then, call one to cancel unless they can match anothers quote. I spent ~15 minutes on the phone with all of them and lowered my 3 day rental from 195 to 137.

I know it doesn’t answer your question directly, but hope that helps some.

Thanks for the advice, signed a lease this afternoon.

Those of you who don’t have internet included in the rent where you live: which company do you use to get online, and which plan that they offer?

where did u sign (looking 1br/1bth)
