Off the Waitlist!

Waitlisted people- keep hope! I have a friend who just got off the waitlist at St. Paul's. She was notified Friday and was able to make yesterday's revisit. It IS possible to get off the waitlist! :D

what is your friend's profile? activities? state? grade?

yeah but i'm trying to think of it that i didn't get in so that if i don't get in I won't be TOO sad and if i do get in I'll be even more ecstatic then I would be.

I'M IN at NMH!!!!!
:D

congrats hotchkiss_please!

Ahah thanks.
I've been ecstatic all day :D

Hmm.

"Prep school acceptance.
The anti-depressant."

;]

yeah, i have a feeling that I won't get off the waitlist because I'm waitlisted at Hotchkiss and Andover both of which are really great schools but I just have this ominous feeling of no acceptance. ah well, i'll stay positive and look forward to next year.

Im In At Taft

Yeaaaa Gunner. Nice job getting off the waitlist.

cough arsenal got beat by liverpool cough

Gunner_33, which grade you applied? I got a phone call from taft this morning, they said they are not go into wl this year. I applied for 10th.

I believe Gunner_33 is currently in 9th grade and applied for 10th grade.

yeah what jenny craig said.

and mcskittlz? sigh.....:/

And Gunner_33 you got off the waitlist at Taft for 10th?
Just clarifiying since march10success was told they are not going to it this year for 10th.

yes...i did

Regarding the conflicting information about whether Taft is taking anyone from the waitlist, I know that schools sometimes say they "did not go to the waitlist this year," when in fact they did take a few students. It happens. In the case of the student who was told by Taft they they are not going to the 10th grade waitlist, maybe it was a nice way of telling that particular student that he would not be getting off the waitlist. It would be interesting to know if artsmart's friend had any particular hook.

Personally, I think that's terrible. They should nicely say that THAT student wouldn't be taken from the waitlist. How do they know that this won't happen? Not telling the truth is not acceptable in my opinion.

McskittlZ10
UGH. no no no!! go man u!
ronaldo is just too good..
and too hot.
=)

Regarding Taft...I think I can reconcile that in the sense that "Wait List" is a big umbrella term that covers many situations.

It may be that some people received notice that they are on the Wait List when, in fact, it was a matter of Taft needing to see their latest grades before offering admission. While others are on the wait list pending the yield rate from the initial pool of applicants. Everyone gets a "wait list" letter, but Taft is accurately informing students that it will not need to draw from the "yield-related" pool this year. The other students, who are actually in a "holding pattern" and whose admission is contingent on their latest performance as opposed to the yield rate, may or may not be accepted...but the fact that they are doesn't mean there's any movement on the "yield-related" list.

I have no idea if that's in fact what's happening. It's possible that they're just making up stories. I'm just proposing one scenario in which I don't think it's deceptive for them to tell wait listed students that the won't be drawing from the list this year. The problem -- for Taft -- is that as that news gets around, they might find that some of those grade-contingent people are firming up other options.

Middlesex did not pull from its wait list for girls.

it is only april tenth! i think it is premature to write off wait list schools. obviously no one should count on getting in off of a wait list, but i find it more surprising that any school has already gone to its wait list. good luck to those of you waiting...
