Anyone else find out yet?

How'd you find out?

I thought they said that you will not find out until at least May 15? How were you contacted? Do you have any proof because i find it hard to believe.

They emailed me.

Is this proof?:

You'll notice it says May 9 instead

Congrats! I am guessing they really need to use the waitlist this year.

Congrats! Did you accomplish anything special to get off the waitlist?

Yeah I am wondering that too.....any special things you did to get off it?

Anyone know if they took people off the waitlist for the college rather than SEAS?

I was the only person to win the J&J Head quarters national merit award and I was the school scholar athlete so I updated that in my essay.

Are you going to go to Columbia for sure?

Most likely I'm going to say yes. I'm gonna talk to some people I know at columbia to make sure though.

Holy crap! Same thing happened to me! (I checked my e-mail right after reading this....haha, so thanks for that) I'm pretty shocked since I sent in my letter pretty late (Like April 26th), and I didn't think it was especially well written and I honestly wouldn't consider myself an extremely strong applicant. I'm just floored. :0

Btw, brs, do you know how to find out how much fin. aid they're giving you? Or do I do need to call them to find out?

Can you guys post your stats? If you don't mind, it'd be a great help to get an idea.

cawcaw, were you in SEAS or college?

wabab, I applied under SEAS.

Here are my stats, Duper. Honestly, I was shocked that they would waitlist me (as in, I expected to be outright rejected, and the fact that they accepted me is just making my head spin)

Asian female
SAT I (superscored): 2240 (760 CR, 750 M, 730 W)
SAT II:
Math IIC 800
Lit 740
US 740
Chem 730

GPA: 3.86 unweighted, 4.7 weighted in highly competitive public school. 'Course this was first semester. That number has gone down since then, hah.

Worked at a Biotech company
Varsity Tennis
Concertmistress at school orchestra
Soloed and 4th chair in a fairly prestigious orchestra
President of a school club
etc.
Volunteered at a soup kitchen 60 hrs
Peer tutored mentally-challenged students for 180 hours.

In my supplement letter I talked about how my interests also include Political Science and Gender Studies, explaining that Columbia's CORE suits my personality. I talked about being interested in the stem cell research that Columbia's biomed program was conducting. I said that my club became a Red Cross Service Club since my waitlisting and what we've done since. I kinda rushed the letter since I procrastinated in writing it for so long and I thought it wasn't very well written, but I did emphasize that I visited the place, and since I'm from the west coast, maybe that impressed them? shrugs Oh, and I tried to add some humor to my letter.

was the email from friday? or was it sent today?

This morning

congrats guys. does anybody know how many are on Columbia's waitlist?

As a CC'er waitlisted at another ivy, I stumbled upon this. congrats guys!, it must be something to hear back so early! Did Columbia plan on pulling people from the WL or was the yield really that bad...

I wonder if that chick from the Time Article got in lol

Getting Off the College Waitlist - TIME

Hopefully the fact that Columbia and (supposedly) Harvard are pulling from the waitlist means that this is a across the board trend.

has anyone gotten in to columbia college yet?

i can't believe they're already notifying people! they DID say may 15th! but congratulations, you guys.
