Just got an email 10 minutes ago confirming the fin aid package will be mailed on Monday

Aren't you supposed to notify most colleges about your decision by May 1? So why are you informed of your admission off of the waitlist afterwards?

How would colleges know whether they have enough spots to enroll people off the waitlist before people reply?

They would know if they 1) counted all the "yes" replies they had gotten already and 2) realized that if even all of the remaining outstanding replies came back "yes," it still would not fill their target class size. Can't think of any other way unless they don't care about over enrollment and/or wish to take gamble.

collegemom08, my question was rhetorical in response to la monera.

Me Too! I Just Got The E-mail And I Am So Stoked!!!!!! My Mom And Dad Started Crying With Me.............

brs, are you international student?

dwindlelights,

Congrats to you and others who got off the waitlist. As a parent of a high school senior, I am in tears with your and your parents.

OH MY GOD, I'm off the waitlist too. I just read the e-mail five minutes ago, and my voice is already hoarse. This is seriously the happiest day of my life.

no, I live in NJ

I declined my offer for a spot on the waitlist...good job and good luck to everyone else.

^me too.

Aww congrats to everyone who got off the waitlist!

This is so frustrating...I waited to send in my supplement stuff until the other day solely because I thought the committee wouldn't be meeting until now. Why they say as early as May 15th on the letter?!! Hopefully they'll do another round of decisions?

I haven't submitted mine yet because I had six APs to study for and there's something big going on in one of my clubs. =/

I accepted Columbia's offer....but now what do I do with Penn? Do I send them an e-mail letting them know that I'm withdrawing or what?

cawcaw90, welcome, hopefully you won't regret the decision, I don't think you will. I think the penn board will know what best to do, but yea you need to at least email them, maybe follow up with a phone call.

Wait until you actually have the letter for the offer of admission that comes in the admission packet. If you said yes to their offer of being taken off the waitlist, they should send it to you right away.
Then write a very nice letter to Penn, indicating that you got off the wait list at Columbia, and that you have decided to withdraw your acceptance to Penn

Ok, thanks!

Dang. I was waiting to submit my supplement cause of my stupid AP's (I hate studying for/taking 8 tests...)

Whatever. Berkeley Bioengineering will most probably be my home for the next 4 years :)
I just want the chance to get into Columbia SEAS, which has been my dream since...oh, the last 10 years or so :D
