Oregon Mom...........CONGRATULATIONS, I've been waiting for this post from you. Jake and you must be on cloud 9 :)

Can't resist a terrrible snotty comment, boston_usmc....but since when should any of us expect Ted Kennedy to have his act together??? Poor man, I truly pity him.

Haha, I never did peskemom! Such a shame though, for applicants from MA.

Yeehaw! Go Navy!

Oregonmom: You have to convince him that his future ship mates would like to see a picture.

Shawna - crazy stuff! I wonder what the nom numbers were? On another thread, folks were calling their Senator and Congressman offices to get statistics. I'm not bored enough to ask yet....ha ha ;)

Oregonmom: congratulations to you and Jake! You waiting is over! Hope he gets his uniform in time now for your daughter's wedding!! Congrats again- job WELL DONE!!!!

OM! Yipee! Did you sleep at all last night with all that whirling around in your head?
That is truly great news. The bride now has to decide how her 'something blue' figures in to all this. Maybe a GO NAVY garter! LOL

Even though nothing in writing etc has come, Jake is a completely different person. There is a huge smile on his face. I got the message yesterday during lunch. I called up the school and they arranged to have our MIke, age 15, go into Jake's class to tell him. Mike walked in and said, " I have an announcement, Jake has just recieved an appointment to the Annapolis." Mike walked up to Jake, shook his hand, and the entire physics class broke into applause. Jake (all red) got up and hugged Mike. That should be a great memory for both boys.

Go Navy!

Oregon Mom....you just made me cry.

Me too!!! Oregonmom

What a wonderful thing! And now one has to wonder if yet another little seed of the USNA has been planted......OM, you may have to start all that waiting to do this all over again! ;)

Oh, Oregon Mom....I am all teary-eyed for you and your boys. What an amazing moment! Congratulations to you all.

Both my husband and I were teary-eyed all afternoon yesterday. My younger son is the most girl-crazy football boy ever, but you never can tell...he did come home with an "A" on a Math test yesterday! I just started to realize how much I am going to miss Jake. I guess I better get started on having enough letters for plebe summer. All of you moms and dads must be feeling the same way.

yay! congrats to you and Jake, OM! Cant wait for I-Day :)

Congratulations Jake and family!! Glad the waiting time is over for you!

Congratulations, Oregon mom! I told you he was probably going to get one soon! My son got the big envelope today. I guess it was mailed on Tuesday. We first found out when I checked the phone messages after coming home in late afternoon. It was the congressman's office saying congratulations and that he would be getting an appointment. I yelled to him to come and check the messages, that he had a message, and he did.
I walked in just as he was hearing it. We both hugged, and I got tears in my eyes, too. We didn't get ahold of my husband until later.
We were all on cloud nine, too.
then the next day a letter came from one senator saying that Will was getting that senator's slot.
The day after that, a LETTER came from the congressman who had called. It was asking for 4 pictures for news releases and a bio.
It said nothing about getting that congressman's slot, so I guess it is like someone said, sometimes your district cong will call to congratulate you, then he wants to use it for some publicity.
Today THE envelope came. It was neat.
I'm happy for you, Oregon Mom! Now our boys may get to know one another! But so much for him posting on here or posting a pic. He would never do it.
This forum has helped me so much through the process, I thank all of you for the information that carried me through the tough business of waiting!

Congrats to all of you who have received appointments. You can indeed be proud of such a great accomplishment!

Yeah Navymom2B!!!!!
This thread is such fun to check in on each day! Cheers me up!!

Jake's official. Just got the big envelope. We made him come over after school to our office to open it in front of everyone. Wow!
