@tylerjohn - at this point, there would be no distinction between where you auditioned, so it would be a phone call for an offer and email for a cut. But as I said, above, if he hasn’t heard anything, he is still in the running. What happens next depends on what happens with those who have already received offers.

Know that if she could, Kaitlin would take so many more kids and that there are many that she loves, but does not have a spot for them in this class for whatever reason.

Keep breathing…

Two girls, friends of my D got acceptances last night.

All people that got acceptances from Texas State MT should post to this forum so that we know how many have been accepted for people still waiting. :*

Tylerjohn, unfortunately there are many students and parents who don’t follow college confidential.

I assume from addicted2MT post that all the spots have not been filled… my S is still on Priority Hold… Does anyone know???

One girl and one boy have officially accepted their offers at this point. Both of those people have posted their acceptances on CC. New acceptances are announced to the Texas State family. These 2 are all we know. And you don’t know how many they will take each year. It is not a pre set number. Being on Hold at this point is still a good thing!

Our D received an offer last Friday and has officially accepted. We are overjoyed as we know the program fairly well and recognize that Kaitlin, Jim and the team are committed to and genuinely care about each individual. Each person is different with different backgrounds and passions and they allow each student to be themselves while pushing them as artists.

Congratulations Christianmt!! Looks like if my current information is correct we have two girls and four boys (including my S) who have accepted offers. We feel as you do about the MT program, and S is excited to see who will be joining the freshman class.

Congratulations to all!!!

Any new or current parents of Tx State BFA MT or Actors: If you are not a member of our private parents FB group, send me a PM so we can get you added!

It’s a great resource and Kaitlin would love every parent to join because we can answer most of the parent-to-parent questions that she can not and/or does not have time to answer.

D is on Priority Hold. A boy from her HS (long-time friend and youth theatre buddy since they were 10 years old) auditioned on 2/15 and was accepted early last week. We are so incredibly happy for him and his lovely family, but so anxious at the same time. Fortunately D has been accepted (and offered a big scholarship) to another respected BFA MT program that she really likes, but TxState is without a doubt the “dream school”. This process is so nerve-wracking! Curious about a few points…Does the fact that they did not have a balanced (boy - girl) ratio last year make the odds worse for girls this year?. In other words, will more spots need to go to boys this year in order to balance that out? Also, D is fairly tall, 5’8" – are there any taller boys in the dept.? (That has been challenge at her HS.) After the Program Overview meeting in Chicago, we were both totally in love with Kaitlin, Michael and Cassie, and we hear that Jim is equally as wonderful. Clearly this is a first rate training program, but I think it is the personal integrity, values, and character of the individual faculty members that make the program incomparable in our eyes. I cannot think of another school where I would feel as confident in my daughter’s development as an artist as well as her personal and spiritual growth as a human being. Honestly, are there any other people of this caliber, running programs of this caliber? If so, I haven’t heard of them.

It will be an even number, but it’s hard to say if there will be more boys than girls this year - it all depends on who accepts and where they decide to go from there.

And yes! There are “other people of this caliber, running programs of this caliber” - the one I can name from personal experience is Coastal Carolina University! My MT kids are one year apart - my son is a current senior at Texas State and my daughter is a current junior at Coastal Carolina. When my daughter was going thru the audition process my son was a freshman at Texas State and we wondered if she would be able to find such a great program with as good of a fit as he had found at Texas State and she did! Last year, we flew my son up to SC to see his sister in Pippin and he was blown away by the talent and the program, in general. And yes, Texas State has “the best faculty you could wish for”, but so does Coastal Carolina. One program’s excellence does not diminish another’s.

Not every program is the right fit for every kid, so no matter what this week’s “Top Programs” thread says, individual fit trumps every list every day of the week!

Keep breathing…

Sigh…My S is still on Priority hold… it is his dream school… hoping for that miracle :">

@inspired59 We feel for you, our S is also on priority hold, and Texas State is his top school. Anxiously awaiting but we are assuming it’s a No. :O

Never assume! There was a lot of movement from every school’s wait list last year!

Still haven’t heard anything and March 1st is two days away! Anyone else not heard anything?

Still waiting here tylerjohn. Helpful to know we’re not the only ones pacing and breathing…and breathing and pacing. Hang in there!

Were still waiting too… are we suppose to hear by March?

On our email we recieved, we were told we that we should hear no later March 1st. But haven’t heard anything yet.
