@jpa0115 @fishgill If the actual number of waitlist is 2000, then we stand no chance. What I find depressing is how quiet the official Class of 2020 results and waitlist pages are.
@richardshaw For sure, def compared to past years, it has been really quiet on these pages…
no one from my hs got into columbia this year…in the past we had a least one or two…
@jpa0115 Really?! The columbia pages might become more active as we near May 1
If you want to know what kinds of grades current Columbia students are getting and what their GPA’s are, the Columbia Spectator just published a bunch of interviews with current students about their grades:

What should my statement be like? What should I write?
Any news?
did everyone get their statements in? I was surprised how quickly my regional counselor responded after I emailed mine in…I guess that goes to say that they don’t read them right away or individually as they’re sent in, but put into our files and read later by some kind of committee.
fingers crossed! good luck to everyone!!
I didn’t get a response for my statement that I sent in 2 weeks ago. @jpa0115 was yours emailed to the ugrad-confirm email address?
@richardshaw i think we might be both applicants from London… did your regional counsellor reply to your email?
@Adaephon I sent mine to my regional counselor and the ugrad-confirm just to be sure.
@jpa0115 How did you find who your regional counselor is?
@toochka Yes my regional counsellor replied to my email saying that my statement has been added to my file for further review.
do we have a guess at how many students are on the waitlists and how many available spots there are since its post decision day now?
It’s awfully quiet in here… Does anyone else really want this? I don’t want to get my hopes to high because I know how slim the chances are but I can’t help it!!
I don’t want to post on here because the chances are so slim–maybe even 0. Hopefully they release decisions before I have to make my first tuition payment.
@beyourself247 online - there’s an admission office newsletter with all the regional counselor info here: http://undergrad.admissions.columbia.edu/sites/default/files/columbia_counselor_newsletter_2015-2016.pdf
@rolliepollie6834 Until they release yield stats it’s really hard to say…
@jpa0115 When do they release yield stats?
@jpa0115 Thanks so much!!
who knows…i know with other schools their PR rep will announce it and the admissions office or campus paper will publish an article with the exact numbers, but I don’t believe the Columbia Daily Spectator has done that in the past…the first round of WL acceptances came out May 15th last year, so it’ll still be a while. I would imagine they’re just figuring out their yield and deciding whether they’ll be going to the waitlist or not…
