Offical June Act English Section Thread

I really think it was a “No” answer.

But you’re right, she did come back to Earth but that was only explained for a very short paragraph.

same here^ i know i didnt pick the one with her experiences at the ISS

I still think it was “no.” But what did the question specifically ask about. That’s why I chose it.

Was it something about her contributions?

I also put no, because it focused too much on her stay at the ISS.

Who remembers the answer choices for the ISS one?

i picked no but it wasn’t because her stay in the ISS, it was for some other reason that no one can remember

^ I think i picked that too. Now if someone remembers it i’ll know for sure. pretty ironic how alot of people picked it but can’t remember xD

Okay… I remember one question that said she “devoted herself” to research or something.

I don’t remember the other options, but I know I didn’t pick the devoted one. Is that the one that mentioned her contribution to research, or am I merging two different questions together?

One of the answers is definitely augmented. Look up the word and you will see why.

Nspire, i think you are. im also confused lol

I think it was because of her stay at the ISS. That’s what the entire focus of the essay was on. There was just a little bit about her devotion.

There was a question about which sentence would be the best lead-in to a paragraph. Maybe that’s what you are remembering.

@Snayyan09. Hahaha. Surprised how much everyone remembers though.

elaborated: make detailed; expand
augmented: make greater; improve

Synonyms, practically… anyone remember the context?

Going by dictionary.com, augmented does make more sense. That was my first guess, and then dummy-me switched it. Augmented seems like it would be more geared towards something tangible, while elaborated is more like speaking in a way (as in, you elaborate on something when you’re explaining something to another person).

No clue. Poor question on their part.

augmented seems right to me even though i put elaborated :/

I put augmented. Elaborated kind of make sense, but augmented is the better choice.

my eraser failed…the one’s I rubbed out were all smudgy, will the computer get confused? Or will it just pick up the much darker circle? stressed! I want a 36

What was the question details with augmented and elaborated? I don’t remember picking either. I think I put choice A. Can anyone remember what the other answers were?

Elaborate means develop while augment is the correct usage in extending something.

Last time I had smudges and it was ok

@sgtgutter I agree; augmented is the only correct term.

About the ISS question, the reason I think it’s “no, the essay focused on her stay at the ISS too much” is because the passage only talked about her work in outer space, her marathon in outer space, and the effects of her research in outer space upon people on Earth. Whilst I realize that people say that she went back down to earth and stuff, that was only the last paragraph and it was talking about the impact her research had upon other people.

I agree with imadropout about the answer being no. It didn’t talk about how she came to be an astronaut, only her time at the ISS, and immediately after.
