Offical June Act English Section Thread

@Snayyon

I honestly don’t know man. You do make sense but the car seems super super super random in that the ENTIRE passage was about the bike from beginning to end. They suddenly give a detail about cars at the 2nd to last sentence?

I understand where you’re coming from, it does seem random but it’s the only logical transition to the although sentence.

I think people are remembering the question wrong (and/or their subconscious changing it ;)). The paragraph never talked about cars. And I don’t think it talked about improvements after where the car statement would have been inserted.

Did you all have a lot of OMIT/DELETE answers?

What did you put for this one:
“But Bates, ____ the perfectionist, continued to blah blah blah” answers were “who is” or “ever”. I put ever

I did include the car sentence after initially not including it. I read through it a bit more carefully and one of the last few sentences did relate to a car in some way, though I forget how it was worded. If you think about it, it does contribute to the idea of expanding transportation options nonetheless… yet the majority of the passage itself was strictly bikes.

I think it depends on the viewpoint in all honesty. The cars sentence could be seen as support for the overall idea/themes, but on the flip-side, it could also be seen as irrelevant information.

Checked the other posts in here - my answers are all pretty consistent. I did put elaborated or whatever instead of augmented though. Still not sure about that one.

Did you guys just have 1 answer with a hyphen/dash (I’m honestly not sure which it is) on the whole test? I just had 1 answer with that

i put ever as well

@Stewart - I put ever as well.

I can’t remember ever using a hyphen or a dash, might remember it if someone knows the sentence specifically.

I put WHO IS!?!? How is it ever!!!

no hyphen or dash for me

who is the perfectionist makes it seem as if it is a title given to her. it should have been whho is A perfectionist not the perfectionist, making ever the answer.

shiiiiit!!! I hate this!!!

wasn’t there something about the view of the train in the springs passage. i put from the view of the train. anyone else

^ yeah something like that. i remember it had “from”

@Snayyan09

I put view from the train, I believe. I think the context clues lead you to believe that the train was moving and the scenery or landscape was changing.

Definitely would like to hear from others for that one though.

What did you guys get with the question about whether the passage about the indian astronaut at ISS would be a good passage to show the process of becoming an astronaut? I was really ify about that one, and I ended up picking something like, “no, this passage mainly elaborated on her stay at ISS”. And the other question that I got confused on was something about her and someone else preparing for the flight by sleeping in sleeping bags? Was it INCLUDING sleeping in sleeping bags or was it something else?

@Straticko

That’s what I put. I first chose a yes answer, but then after looking back at the passage, I chose no, because all of the stuff they talked about happened when she was at the ISS.

i put no but forgot the reason behind it. and can someone please help on the second part of that quesstion?

I remember mentally debating that one about “her stay at the ISS.”

I don’t think I picked that option though. While most of the passage was what the lady did at the ISS, didn’t it also include when she came back to earth and shared her experiences or something?

I think my answer for that one related to research in some way. Not sure though.
