Offical Notre Dame Transfer 2011

Hey everyone! I've been a lurker on this site for about a year and decided to finally get involved! I've noticed that the presence of potential ND transfers has been near non-existant this year, so with the application due Friday I thought this would be a great time for us to get our own thread and we can all meet eachother and what not.

I hope the application isn't too daunting for everyone! The wait until June/July is killing me personally! Hopefully we can all survive the wait together over the next couple months.

hey bigmike - i couldn’t agree more! the wait is dreadful. where are you coming from?

Oh wow I forgot about this for a little bit!
I’m coming from Indiana University - Bloomington. I’m a South Bend native though so it’s kind of like I’d be getting to come home. What about you? Where do you hail from?

I’m from New York, but right now I’m finishing up my first year at Emory

We NEED to get this thread cracking!!!

The wait is a killer!

I am also from New York, finishing up my first year at Syracuse.

I agree TerekS!

Just got my grades back today and am sending the official transcript to ND tomorrow! The wait is completely destroying me already. I hope we find out sooner rather than later.

does anyone know the number that applied this year? in the past they say it has been around 600 with an acceptance rate of 30-35 percent, but on this website it said the acceptance rate has been as high as 42 percent? If there is a decrease in the number of people that applied that improves everyones chances.

I have no idea how many applied. I don’t think they’ll release that kind of information until all of the acceptances are done, but I certainly hope the numbers are kind of low. That gives all of us much better chances!
I’ll ask today. I’m about to head over to the Main Building to turn in my unofficial transcript and I’ll see what they have to say about numbers.

haven’t heard any buzz, so does that mean only 10 people applied this year? I know the average g.p.a is 3.7, what’s the lowest you have heard for being admitted? I know the legacy factor plays a role and I wonder if kids with parents or siblings are going to be put in ahead of others. with that being said, does anyone have an acceptance letter?

I would think (but mostly hope) that acceptance letters will start to go out next week. I’m thinking them coming out this week is a little too ambitious. In the 2010 thread some kids were getting calls as early as the 19th and the first acceptance letters was on the 21st or something.
There was a guy who actually made a little website detailing his story of his transfer to ND and he lurks around here occasionally. I’m like, 99% sure he had a 3.5ish GPA and wasn’t a legacy. I think there’s just a lot of emphasis on personal essays. That’s where we they give an applicant the chance to stand out.
I HATE this wait!

Ok I have some news! Maybe not good, maybe not bad, maybe not even official, but I though I’d throw this out there. There’s another kid from my high school who applied to transfer to the engineering program and I’m 99% sure he was accepted today. I don’t know if it was by letter or a call, but at least it shows that acceptances are being given out right now.
This makes me so excited, but SO nervous! I think the kids transferring into the College of Science do find out earlier though since there are a lot less applications to go through. Hopefully Arts and Letters finds out soon!

I’m not transferring here but bigmike and colette do you mind sharing why your are leaving your current schools - I actually just applied to both Emory and Indiana-Bloomington as a transfer applicant.

My son didn’t find out he was accepted as a transfer until June 16th last year. I know the waiting is a killer, but they start notifying around this time and do so up until July 1st. Have patience and best of luck to all of you!!

Hey guys! I just received my acceptance letter in the mail today and I am officially in the school of engineering. Good luck to all of you!

Congrats Kate!!! It definitely looks like the Engineering kids are finding out first. I’m so jealous!
And thanks myoneandonly. I don’t know how people survive this wait.

Thank you! Good luck to everyone else waiting and I hope everything turns out well.

Congrats to those of you who’ve already received your acceptances and to you others, sit tight and try to be patient – it’ll be worth the wait :)

I can’t wait any longer!

I know! I can’t wait either! Every day I get nervous before I open the mailbox. The anticipation is killer.
What did everyone say they were going into on the app? I’m doing FTT but I’m 99% sure I’m gonna switch it should I actually get accepted.
