Official 2008 INTEL STS Thread

semi finalist results come out on the 16th and finalist on the 30th

is there a reason for the gap? suspense? :P

and plus I think they might contact your professor to make sure taht you are telling the truth regarding what you actually did in the lab...and not claim some big discovery as your own work when you just stood there and watched it

public announcement of finalists is the 30th. but they find out b4hand.
its all for the media.

they do accept faxed forms. I specifically called to ask, and it worked for me.
if that relieves any of your tension...

good luck btw guys. I'm doing this next summer and am really interested.

How long did it take you guys? (w/ research)

a while. summer of research for 12-18 hours a day and September/october to write the paper/finish research.

I forgot if we needed to send our SAT scores in any special way for STS...did we?

Yes. You needed to pay the CollegeBoard to send them scores, just like you would a college. (At least, I think.)

No...I looked at the entry form and there's no college code to submit it to. Then I talked to mathwiz and he said the self report + transcript (which has the SAT score on it) is fine.

^ can int'l students enter STS? I'm assuming a flat-out no.

for SAT scores, I just made a copy

and yes int'l can. I am and I entered. you just have to live and go to school in the US

results come out soon...leaving me wondering whether great stats + good report is enough to get semi-finalist (same with good stats + great report).

how about good stats and good report?
im wondering how many siemens get rejected from intel.

@google2008

wow, as if anyone could suddenly say "I'm gonna go to the US to use Intel to beef up my transcript" so easily

Oh boy am I nervous. Let's just hope the judges think we have "great reports and great stats" hehe :D

However, there is an upper limit on stats, but no limit on how great your research can be. For instance, most people can max out on class rank, SAT scores, college level math classes, etc. Not many can prove something as difficult and paramount as the Hodge Conjecture.

guess what is tomorrow everybody!!!

...my physics final

im on vacation. please let my vacation be a happy one.
what time tomorrow will the results be posted?

3 PM...about 22 hours left.

just on the website

aw wish we could c earlier

awww I really want to know NOW :( plus I am slightly freaking out

so what happens...do we get a email or check on the website with a list of people?
