On another note did anyone receive any confirmation that all your stuff has been received/missing info?

I called about that, truazn. Since nothing is done online for Yale, they don't offer this form of confirmation. Just assume/hope that everything gets there.
However they do send out an email in mid-April I believe if there's something missing in your file.

Btw: I'd be glad to take your place at Columbia if you got into Yale. :D

I'm curious, what reason did you give for the transfer?

Really crappy reason IMO.

Basically Yale's always been my "dream" school. I spent a summer there for JSA program and loved it even more. i never applied there as a freshman though... I applied Columbia ED (free tuition- parent employer [i.e Columbia], benefit) and was accepted.

While Columbia is great and I'm expecting to stay (chances of getting into Yale are zilch), I guess there's a small part that just wondered what it would be like at Yale. In my essay, I cited my extensive past academic experiences with Yale and basically wrote that I would like to complete the "journey" that I started there.

All in all, in all honesty if I had to evaluate my own essay, while I'd say its sentimental it wholly lacks the "if-not-yale-then-death" urgency that I'm sure some other kids have for wanting to transfer. Which is fine because in truth, I think it's harder to justify a transfer from Columbia -> Yale than from a State University -> Yale simply because Columbia in many, many ways is identical to Yale.

I applied to Yale too,,

care to post your stats anyone?

you first :D

I'll go:

GPA: 8.0
SAT 1: 4800
SAT 2: 1600 Lit, 1600 Chem, 1600 USH, 1600 French...etc....
EC's: Ended world hunger, found a cure for herpes, made Paris Hilton smart.

How you like them apples?

I applied to Yale for the second time now. I was rejected as a freshman. Hopefully, this time will be better. To every one of you, all the best and let's hope we meet at Yale.

what's your stats elphins. did you have a lower sat score?

I got a confirmation from Yale yesterday that my

application is complete,,

Did everyone else get e-mails from Yale too?

I got mine last week too.

Yep. Got it, but on April 3rd.

Uh. I got my confirmation email yesterday...only problem is I sent a letter withdrawing my application like 3 weeks back. Should I call them or is this an error?

I would say call them, but then again, I have a vested interest in as few other people applying/matriculating as possible.

I know interviews are not required--but do you guys know of anyone who got interviewed in the previous years?

I met someone who had 'connections' to Yale and got a faculty member to back up their transfer application but I don't think there's any way for transfer applicants to get an interview.

Does Yale send decisions to transfer applicants living abroad through email?

bump serious posts only please. no more nonsense.

i wonder if that last thread was deleted. what a bummer it was full of useful tidbits.

juenatic,

yeah..i agree..

collegeconfidential moderators apparently don't understand the value of preserving info. they could have simply deleted transfermation20's comments and just totally block his IP address.

sigh.

Yep, a bit overzealous on CC's part, although that last thread was a trainwreck.

Anyway, what we know so far:
(1.) Yale decisions were sent out last year around May 7-9th, there may or may not have been e-mail notification.
(2.) The committee is making final decisions on at least some applications this week
(3.) At least one person who requested early notification has already received a rejection.
