This thread is for all those who already realize they want to seek transfer to Yale in the fall 09 and graduate as yalies. Im sure we are all brimming with information we want to share, so lets describe why we want to transfer and whats wrong with our current school (providing a name of the current institution is completely optional).

How about I go first. I am going to be a sophomore next year at grinnell. I applied for transfer last year and got rejected. But unfortunately, I never know when to give up, and so I'll be trying again next year.

Plz mention the major you are applying for since that affects admission to some extent

Possible reasons are size of current school, weather, academics, social atmosphere etc

I seem to see you on every thread. Anyway, I'll be applying to Yale as well as some others but with a near non-existent hope (I'm almost already expecting a rejection lol).

Major: Geology or Earth Science or Environmental Science and Philosphy. (Double)

The most obvious reason is that I DO NOT WANT TO STAY IN MY HOME COUNTRY!!!! And please, its Yale. Ofcourse I won't put these reasons in my essay before you all flip.

Yup, I can already see my thin rejection letter, but the advantages make it worth a shot. Yes im sure you realize that stay in my home country - not , is not a valid reason. But we all know they want specific reasons like why the geology program at yale is better than that at ur home country. Im so glad we'll be going through rejection together, although I hope I am wrong

I am applying for Yale in 2009. I am currently at a state school and I want to transfer for two primary reasons. One is the obvious academic prestige and the other is I do not like the giant school feel, i want a smaller atmosphere. I also love Yale's residential college system. My major is going to be economics, and i probably won't get in.

Our optimism is just so encouraging. My word!!!

Anyone with advise on those essays? Whatever those college admission officers say, THE single most important thing after grades is the essay. They'll try to tell you everything is weighed equally but the essay is EXTREMELY important. So whoever has some helpful tips on it, they'll be appreciated.

So lets slave away on this application and jointly pick up our broken pieces when we get rejected. Lol.

to rahimahs,
great!! you are in grinnell? btw, i'm sorry i didnt see the post at the top of this thread carefully.
btw, why dont you like grinnell? personally i think it's a great school expcept the location... ;) um...I admire your spirit "never know when to give up",lol.
hmm, i will apply yale, too. but the the chance is pretty slight...sign..it's yale... current i'm an incoming freshman to a state college.my high school gpa is sort of solid...most of my ECs are about the leadership. those are a bit humdrum. and no perfect sat scores.

hey rihimals, what about your solid background such as sat? students in LAC usually got high score...

Also very, very interested in Yale.
Got rocked during college admissions.
My reasons are still been formulated in my head; but I have some ideas.
going to MHC brooklyn college this year as a freshmen.

I love this thread. Great way to find some support in other transfer students. Like many here, I am an aspiring transfer applicant for Yale 09. My major is Political Science (later I will love to continue my graduate studies at Yale Law). I attend an almost completely unknown private university, Interamerican University of Puerto Rico in San German. My reasons are that I believe in getting the best education I can get and Yale is basically that. Yale has so much too offer: an amazing history, great academic standing, an outstanding education, recognized student activities, etc. In addition, it's my dream to go to Yale. You know that feeling you get when you go to a place and right away you know you belong. That's how I felt when I visited their campus last year.
I belong in Yale I just know it haha :D. By the way, being pessimistic about your possible admittance really shows in your application. I advice you to be more positive and have a little faith. It just might happen.

hey jemmayale2009, what's your standing? sophomore or junior?
haha, i like your confidence. :D and what can i comment your post? maybe see you in yale? ;)
