Official 2009 Berkeley Appeals Thread.

Aggiebear and so1…this year cal experienced the most number of applicants that applied…therefore, there is very little room they can work with. Due to this, they have to wait and see who submits their SIR’s before they can reserve a spot for you guys. Anyways good luck to all of you!

Right you are Chuslee. I guess I was just anticipating that they would have decisions ready for today since yesterday was the SIR deadline. I’ll try to chill out. Good luck to you too, Chuslee!

8:50 PM PST… sigh still nothing.

chuslee, are you a uc inter transfer as well?

Hey…Yes I am…I am from UCLA.

Any word on your guys’ end? Nothing here.

3:12PM PST… still nothing. Are we borderline or something?

s01, that’s my best guess. I’m also guessing that it takes some time to update SIR submissions like Chuslee mentioned. I really think we’ll hear back by the end of the week, considering the SIR deadline for admitted appeals is next Thursday, according to zhuqi.

Anyone else still waiting? I’m starting to get anxious, just because the deadline for appeal SIR’s is now a week away.

still waiting…hmm does anyone know when the deadline was for Freshman appeal SIR?

So I called the admissions office a little bit ago to ask when/how I could hear about an appeal decision. When I told the lady on the phone that I had yet to hear a response, she sounded puzzled and had me directed to another office where I left a voice mail asking the same question.

I know this may not be helpful, but I thought it was interesting that the lady hesitated when I said that I hadn’t heard a decision yet.

^ That’s odd. What office did she transfer you to? What exactly did she say?

My guess is that we’ll hear back next week.

I guess the Haas appeals were really fast? Has anyone gotten into Haas through appeal yet?

no one on here

When I told her I was calling to ask about my appeal decision, she asked if I had checked myBerkeleyapp and asked if I was accepted or not. I then told her that I had yet to hear, which is when she paused, and sounded thrown off. I don’t know what office she transferred me to, but it was some other person’s voicemail that I left a message on (I don’t know who’s voicemail it was). She told me that the person she transferred to “can’t give you a decision, but can maybe tell you how to go about getting a decision.”

Who’s still waiting to hear?

I feel like a lot of people aren’t posting their decisions because many got rejected, and it sucks to have to admit that. So how about we just post “Heard,” or “Still waiting.” I bet no one likes this idea. Whatever. I think it’s a good one.

I, for one, am still waiting.

Yay welcome shlc89… aggie and i arent’ the only one waiting lol.
What’s your major and are you a UC inter transfer too??

Let’s refresh this list…(copy and paste if you’re still waiting)

Don’t lose hope! I haven’t posted here before, but my appeal was accepted!

I actually find myself on these forums for that very reason: I sent an SIR to Irvine before my appeal was approved… is that going to be a problem? Mostly I’ve heard that it isn’t (if taken care of properly), but there are murmurs of negativity…

^Congrats!! No. I don’t think should be a problem. I think you just lose the $100 deposit.

When did you send in your appeal? And when did you hear back? Could you also provide your stats and major?

@ vans

same here, i sent my SIR to ucsb before berkeley accepted me. so then i called up ucsb and they said to fax them a statement saying taht you wish to withdraw ur SIR to ucsb and sign it. that’s it.
i don’t think there’s any negativity at all…
