wynotdance87:
how has your freshman year been at cornell? do you think the core classes are a burden? how is the nursing staff? how are the other students?

oooh . . .I have a lot of questions.

Thanks

Ok, just to point this out..it's Connell SON, but no biggie :)
Freshman year has been amazing. Fall semester I took Anatomy and Physiology (with lab) I, Life Science Chemistry (with lab), History, and Writing. The core classes are not a burden at all, most of them are pretty easy. This semester I'm taking Anatomy and Physiology (with lab) II, Professional Nursing I (basically a history/ethics nursing class), Literature, History, and Math. So, more core than science/nursing classes, but its still good. Next spring we start clinical training in the labs at BC. They have a floor in Cushing hall thats set up to look like a hospital and thats where you'll get your initial training before being sent out into the real world spring semester of your sophomore year. (Just in case you're curious, my fall courseload next year looks like this: Microbiology (with lab), Pathophysiology, Health Assement (with clinical), ad Philosophy)

The nursing staff (I'm guessing you mean the professors that teach the courses?) are wonderful. hey're very helpful, and supportive. They'll even take the time to go over your exams and papers with you if you want.

The other students in nursing are amazing! (yay! i just get so excited about this! i love cson!) There are 79 freshman in Nursing right now, and so we all recognized each other, and everyone is really nice and helpful. Personally, there are four nursing students that live on my floor and we're all best friends. we go to breakfast together casue we all have the same classes, and three of us are actually rooming together next year.

CSON is a great community, and an even greater education. I'm so excited to be a part of it!

ynotdance87--thanks for all the info. you sound really positive about the whole experience. I am visiting in a couple of weeks and look forward to seeing the school and meeting other incoming nursing students. any negatives about BC?
