Official 2010 Boston College Waitlist Thread

or maybe she is ****ed cause she is getting thousands of calls daily? i have waited seven months, i guess i can wait 2 more weeks. by the way, another day of mail without a letter

nfs2006,

There's a thread on the parents forum re: waitlists, but it dried up about 10 days ago. The list included Yale (4 students) and Cornell and Barnard for Ivies. Also Duke, MIT, Swarthmore, Rice & Williams.

Emory, ND, WUSTL did not go to wait lists.

Not sure how any of this impacts BC.

well, if it makes any of you feel better, im about to withdraw from bc (i just got off the wait list at haverford) so someone gets my spot.

When i called (yesterday), i asked "When will i be able to find out if i got off the waitlist" to which the lady replied "By June 15th."

What i should have asked is "Is anybody actually being accepted off of the waitlist"

Has anybody asked that recently?

Has anybody actually been accepted off of the waitlist. The one other kid on the waitlist at my school got rejected already.

Has anyone asked: Am I on the waitlist? As stated above, our D got a letter last week taking her off the waitlist. The letter is dated May 18th, but we didn't get it until a week later.

In the letter, BC says that the "freshman class is filled" and that the "class has now reached its capacity." It also says that in May, BC took "a limited number of applicants" off the wait list. Verbally we were told a few wait listed applicatns were taken "very early" after May 1.

So, it may be worth a call to confirm you are, in fact, on the list and still in the running for an opening. Like one poster said, it is not unthinkable that the flimsy return post card electing to be on the wait list could have disintegrated at some point between you and Chestnut Hill. Good luck.

Daughter's friend just found out today that he got off BC's waitlist. He is going!!

thats great news
so they are accepting at least a few...

Now, why would the letters go out in May stating that the class was "full" when they were still accepting people weeks later? This makes it tough for people who, after believing that they would NOT be taken off the wait list, have already made other "plans"... not just depositing, but actually making vacation plans around another school's orientation dates, flight reservations for move-in dates, etc. Not good....

That's great about your D's friend. Had he received a letter similar to the ones talked about above (dated 5/18) that the class was full?

He received the letter/packet on Friday. He had not received anything except the original waitlist letter.

We are still waiting patiently too, have not heard a word since the wait list post card was mailed back. D1 is a Cum Laude member, editor of yearbook, 4 year captain of LAX team, NHS for 3 years...works 3 jobs, traveled to France alone at 16, every AP course and honors course possible, GD & niece of BC eagles...but she has a 1290......730 in writing but that seemed to be a waste of test time!

No one could ever convince me that she is not capable of doing the work at BC!

Is it because we are divorced Protestants???!!!!

Nicole 1500 - Of course she's capable of doing very well at BC... I know friends who are there now who are about the same and are doing great. Have you had any verbal communication w/the admissions office? I just think it's odd they tell people on the phone & others by letter that the class is full & still accept students... We've made other plans even though we haven't gotten anything in the mail, as the admissions office told us on the phone that the admitted students had been notified... this was weeks ago. It sounds like they've told that to a lot of people. Hey, I think divorced Protestants are probably considered "diversity"... which could be a benefit!

i refuse to contact the admissions offices at "nova or bc....i am letting it play out on its own accord! Her GC did contact bc twice, once after being deferred and once after being waitlisted...D1 also wrote in a few times about extra pluses...she has a 4.06 cum...what bothers me is that she has friends attending who have far less stats...But that is the way life is, I guess...oh well, we are thrilled with Conn Coll!!!!!

If it helps Nicole, my d's friend had his money in at Villanova, but now that he is off the waitlist he is going to BC. So maybe there is a spot for your d. He is a legacy and a male, your d's stats are great. I have always considered CT College better than Nova or BC so it might work out in the long run if she doesn't get in. I do know my d's friend called the BC office almost every day.

thx mom06grad....i love Conn Coll as well but BC is 1st school D1 looked at and it is stuck on her brain!! And she let them know that! Coming from a class of 40 seniors, 490 freshmen seems like a perfect transition....plus all the junior year abroad opportunities...and the 2 hour door to door DRIVE!! My friend's son just got into 'nova, via phone call...he is ecstatic...all's well that ends well??!!

I got off BC's waitlist Friday and I am definitely going. What a graduation gift! For those who are still on the waitlist it is good to know that they are taking people.

notforsure...can you post your stats please??
or did you barrage the admissions with letters from BC alum?

Heard end of last week. Got in! Pleasantly surprised!

Did not call, or in any other way communicate with admissions during the waiting period, as they requested.

Stats

SAT's 1980
Three varsity sports, captain of two.
Great recommendations, including one from an alum
Top 5% of class
sister graduated this year.

For all those who recentely received letters & got in - When was your letter dated/mailed? Do you live close to BC? Trying to figure out if some of those letters are still out there on their way! Also, please post your stats. Thanks.
