thank you!!

Wow, I had gotten 55/80 and 56/80 on the practice exams but I just got a 49/80 on the 2001 exam. I am going to take the 2006 exam and hope that the 49/80 is a false alarm…

not looking forward to apush. history is usually my strong suit though, so hopefully i’ll be okay. i’m sick so i’m staying home tomorrow anyway, i need to force myself to study all day. ): how far did everyone get in class? we barely made it to JFK; i’m just going to read the rest of my textbook tonight.

MarinebioSax, could you please pm me the answer key to the 2001 test if it’s not too much of a hassle? thanks so much for posting it!

Send me a PM with your email if you want 2006 MC + Answers. :)

MarinebioSax, could you please, please send me the 2001 answer key?
I would really appreciate that, because right now I’m probably going to get a 1 or 2 :O

thank you flamingmango, that’s a big help!

It’s not that hard to get a good score, guys! appass.com . We finished up until Reagan, but we zoomed through the 70s and 80s.

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but did you see this on the College Board website?:

Beginning with the May 2011 AP Exam administration, there will be a change to the way AP Exams are scored. Total scores on the multiple-choice section will be based on the number of questions answered correctly. Points will no longer be deducted for incorrect answers and, as always, no points will be awarded for unanswered questions.

My take on this is that it won’t hurt to guess! True?

Yes, but the curve has been made a bit higher because of this. I took the Calc AP today and the FRQs were also harder than any of the practice FRQs I did – and I did a lot of them.

Write down a fact for every question you get wrong. Questions on the MC tend to get rehashed year to year. Then, look over that list and see where you went wrong and I guarantee you’ll get above a 65. Worked for me.

I got a 64/80 on the 2007 (I think?) MC test. That was before studying anything after 1875. Predicting 70+ on the exam, won’t have to worry if my essays suck or not.

FYI, here is the scoring method on the AP
(Number right on MC)1.125
(DBQ score out of 9)4.25
(FRQ #1 score out of 9)2.75
(FRQ #2 score out of 9)2.75

Add those 4 values together. The cutoff between a 4 and a 5 is around the 111 mark, but it fluctuates from year to year. Above 115 is a guaranteed 5.

^ According to APPass.com if you can get that high of MC and a near-perfect DBQ (which really isn’t hard to do; you only need to know how to coherently synthesize the given information and recall a little bit of outside information), you can get zeros on the other FRQs and still get a 5.

MC and DBQ are the two best things to focus on.

I recently came to the realization that if you have a good teacher, have done consistently well on assessments throughout the year, and get a good night’s sleep, you are virtually guaranteed a 5. I stopped worrying about it this morning, life is good.

@taftie12

don’t be so cocky, I expected a 5 and thought I got a 5 on the exam after I was done and I ended up getting a 4. I’m not sure why, it might have something to do with the fact that I accidentally wrote my essays in pencil and ended up frantically writing over them in pen but still don’t expect a 5.

I trust your advice because you like Radiohead :)
