Finalists here, what kinds of Colleges can I get in now?

None of us are in college yet, Coalman. :)

ughh they havent phoned in yet…

Regional Finalist! Math project - I’ll be at Notre Dame. I got my call yesterday afternoon with information about whatnot. Any other teams who are going to be at ND?

nope just got my call, Im at GA tech… dammit like 9 days to prepare. Also what’s the gift this year?

hey guys i have a question for other regional finalists. do any of you know if we can bring a second guest? on the online travel form there is a space for a guest (in addition to the chaperone) and asks for dietary needs etc. does this mean i can bring both parents? and if so, do they get fed and get a room or is that paid for out of my pocket?

Thanks!

Also, are you guys allowed to make changes to the abstract template? when I open the file it just goes to a powerpoint presentation but if i press escape to edit it closes the file?

what was in the prize package for semi-finalists this year?

I think it’s a surprise until they come. I can’t wait!

when do they come?

The letter said December.

Have any of the regional finalists’ schools received their banners yet?

Anyone submitting STS tonight?

Regional Finalist here from MIT (didn’t get NF’s though). I didn’t apply to STS because I couldn’t get 3 recs (my mentor hates me).
However, I think that for the future students, I should say that typos honestly don’t make a problem. I had somewhere between eight and twelve typos in my paper and two more in the executive summary, but I still got RF’s. It’s really more about your research quality in terms of pure implications.
If I had to chose ONE single thing about why the kids who I saw at Regionals made it, it was because they all showed remarkable innovation in their projects.
That also sort of explains why I didn’t make nationals!

^ sucks, how did you get your mentor to hate you?

I did a few hours ago. Siemens semifinalist gives me an ounce of hope.

@PantherTrax, what happened with your mentor?

@dblazer, yeah. I wonder how much ISEF/Siemens helps with STS. Is there an official thread yet for STS? Haven’t been able to find one.

@ batfan, this is the thread for this year…but it’s not active:

Got the Siemens semifinalist gift pack…I have absolutely no use for the kindle touch. It was a letdown because they accidentally gave me a regional finalist gift pack letter which said they got kindle fires.

awww, what else was in there?

Besides the kindle, there’s a t-shirt, copy of USA Today paper with listings, a notebook, pen, umbrella, monitor calendar strip, key chain, tote, flashlight, hand sanitizer, and certificate of recognition. It all came in a Siemens Foundation backpack.
