*Official* 2011 transfer chance!

@Investment

so when did ucb offer taps? ehh

^ I will tell you if you join my new college confidential club at de anza.

CCC applicant
Major: Psychology/Philosophy
Current GPA: 3.6

ECs: Honors Transfer Program (UCLA TAP?), Interned at SK Energy, Student Council
Considering: UCB, UCLA, UCSD

IGETC finished in the spring.
I need to finish two more lab sciences on fall though.

Grade trend:Got all A’s in the first sem. Got all B’s in second sem. Shooting for A’s in third sem.

First generation college student

Thanks! Please respond asap

yeah wen i was filling out my TAG agreement for 2011, didn’t see ucb/ucla. gg

yeah UCLA and UCB don’t have TAG. They both have separate TAP[transfer admission priority] programs. If only they had TAG :(

@Investment

nice ECs

What firm did you work at?

Viral: even though you are double majoring, you can’t put that on your application (you would need to petition once you’re already enrolled and you still might not be able to). So assuming that you apply as only psych or philosophy, it is unlikely that you’ll get into either UCB or UCLA. You’re a shoe in for UCSD though…

I’m not sure if UCLA or UCB offer joint majors off the bat for transfer students. I know that UCB does for some engineering majors… look into it if you don’t already know.

Applying to UCB, UCLA, UCD
Current School: CCC
Major: History
GPA: 3.8
SATs: Not taken
IGETC: Finished by Spring
Pre-Reqs: Finished by Spring
ECs: VP of Alpha Gamma Sigma, Cinema Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Phi Theta Kappa, Volunteer Hours, Volunteer Tutoring, Animal Rights Club, Quidditch Club, Frisbee Club
Plus, I work Part time.

Chances?

I’m being very vague in general so my employers, school admissions committees, friends, etc will not be able to identify who I exactly am. So sorry I will not tell you the firm I work at.

@Investment

kinda think you are full of crap

^ Haha awesome. I’ll take that as a compliment.

I have TAP for UCLA. How much would that help w/ a 3.6 gpa if I only applied as a psych major?

TAP only helps but I know that UCLA’s psych program is super competitive… I would say 50% is your chance… You’re probably better off applying as a philosophy (I’m not sure which program is more competitive at either schools)

nah man go for the gusto! last year when i applied as a psych major to UCLA i never heard about how competitive and selective the department was, that probably would’ve psyched me out and discouraged me. i still got in for psychology though, even while missing the chem / phys requirement

I might just barely not make TAG gpa by the end of Fall '10 for UCSB, can someone chance me on a regular old November application?

First year, out of state University: 2.05 @ 17cr
followed by terms at CCC:
summer: 2.5 @ 6cr
fall: 3.5 @ 12cr
spring: 3.67 @ 9cr
summer: 4.0 @ 6cr

Current cumulative UC gpa: about 3.0

This fall I plan on 4.0 or close @ 15cr, which should get me to about 3.2 but I might be short.

Major: Economics (UCSB)
major prep: Micro & Macro with A’s, Econ Stats with B.
not yet completed: Calc 1 and 2, taking this spring and summer

IGETC will be done by end of spring '10.

EDIT: my CCC gpa is 3.455, it’s just my first year at an out of state that’s bringing me down!

i think its just ur uc transferrable gpa tht counts tho for the tag app^ am i wrong?

I believe you are correct, but my first year was general lower-div coursework that will mostly transfer. Since it will mostly transfer, I’m assuming that the 2.05 will indeed factor into my UC gpa. It’s hard to determine my exact gpa since I don’t know what will transfer, but it will be somewhere between 3.15 and 3.25.

@Zeitgeist
I went to an OOSU too for a semester and while i was at this transfer program at UCLA i was able to get an evaluator to look at my transcripts and for all of my classes I’m getting elective credits with no grade. So it might be the same for you. Also you should try and get academic renewal for you first bad semester at CCC.

I’d appreciate it if someone can my some assessments regarding my chances! :slight_smile:
Applying from: Southwestern College

Applying to: UCSD, UCI, UCR, UCLA

Current GPA: 3.3

Major:Political Science (pre-law)

Pros: PreReqs complete, First Gen student, CCC transfer, IGETC, Tennis Team

Cons: do not qualify for TAG

Thanks for your guy’s time

@vivthegreat

without tag, you still have a decent shot at UCI and UCR with that GPA, assuming you finish everything the schools require.

UCLA and SD is quite a reach with that GPA, but you never know until you try.

good luck!

if you’re sure you don’t qualify for tag, so be it. It never hurts to check twice or even three times.

i have a few friends who just assumed they didn’t qualify for TAG. They all got into a UC but when they looked back they all qualified but didn’t know. It would have saved them from sweating during decision releases.
