I found this online about the witch question; it’s evidence against the “Catholic countries answer” and evidence for the “ended with the 30 Years’ War” answer

Writes Nachman Ben-Yehuda, “This helps us understand why only the most rapidly developing countries, where the Catholic church was weakest, experienced a virulent witch craze (i.e., Germany, France, Switzerland). Where the Catholic church was strong (Spain, Italy, Portugal) hardly any witch craze occurred … the Reformation was definitely the first time that the church had to cope with a large-scale threat to its very existence and legitimacy.” But Ben-Yehuda adds that “Protestants persecuted witches with almost the same zeal as the Catholics … Protestants and Catholics alike felt threatened.” It is notable that the witch-hunts lost most of their momentum with the end of the Thirty Years War (Peace of Westphalia, 1648)

yeah actually on witches Central Europe makes sense. One of the causes of the witch hunts was social unrest/tension caused by religious division. And mostly Catholic countries wouldn’t have seen as much of that. But it seems like both answers are reasonable.

I don’t think it’s 30 years war though, the answer said it ending IMMEDIATELY with the 30 years war. that’s too abrupt, it was slowing down before then.

but all the big witchcraft countries were in central europe.

MC was much easier than I expected it to be, however I completely guessed on anything post WWII.
DBQ was ok. I think I used 10/12 sources, did the 3 point of views and everything.
I did, like a lot of people, FRQ’s 4 & 7. They were both pretty short compared to my DBQ but I think I did OK on 4 and according to you guys, I ****ed up my #7 lol

The Multiple choice was fine I thought, and the DBQ extremely easy. The FRQ on the other hand sucked. I picked 3 and 5 I think. One the first one I discussed how the first period of colonization was spurred on accident, and the second one was kind of a neccesity to fuel Industrialization. Then I wrote about the women having to help out in the world wars. Honestly, I was really tired by then and only covered about a page for each FRQ. I did two pages for the DBQ.

Edit: I think I have a good shot at getting a 3 as long as whoever grades my essays is not expecting great structure. I got the idea down, so I hope that is all that counts for this type of essay. Damn thunderstorms kept distracting me.

I didn’t think MC was THAT bad, but I’m going to agree with the really random questions…
DBQ was like a birthday gift.
FRQ’s weren’t that bad either, though I can see how easily someone could get a really bad score due to how easily you could get off topic.

Dat mc portion… 0.o It destroyed me. The frq’s I picked were 4 &5. 4 was super easy. Enlightenment+social Darwinism. 5 was kinda bus on my part but hopefully it made sense. Super easy dbq. Wanted a five, but probably got a 4.

Was the answer to that one question Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn? And what was the punishment for crimes answer? The choices had imprisonment, public humiliation, and some other ones (I don’t quite remember)
