****Official 2013 Yale Waitlist Thread****

I got an email saying the waitlist decisions would be delayed because the freshmen class was slightly over-subscribed right now. I don’t really want to wait anymore because I’m set on Pomona so I am taking my name off the wait list. Good luck guys!

oh man around 450 waitlistees only…and theyre not gonna use it…im wailisted at hyp and i thought yale was gonna be the best cause they waitlist so few kids…

H is your best shot since they take the most off the waitlist

Why is that, especially compared to the rest of the ivies?

hey guys, I’m not a yale waitlistee (rejected, but i still love it  ), but I am a princeton waitlistee. We’re in almost the same situation… they only took 31/over 800 people who accepted the waitlist, and they aren’t planning to take anymore. I don’t know why I’m here, but I’m basically saying hi from the Princeton board, and that most of us know how you feel. Last year they (Princeton) took 148 off, but for some reason, the yield went up by 5%.

Anyways, heres to hoping that HARVARD takes lots of Princeton/Yale acceptees off their waitlist, so that P and Y have room for us :)

Haha I love how Yale (and I guess Princeton now) Waitlisties are actually rooting for the big H to possibly instill some hope… ahh the irony.

darnit.

[Web Update: Yield rises to 59.7 percent - The Daily Princetonian](http://www.dailyprincetonian.com/2009/05/08/23671/)

So, I got an e-mail from Yale saying that they took their waitlist down to 50 students and that I am one of them! Anyone else included in this?

^^^ Yes!!!

^^ Me TOO! Bad news though. I emailed them back and they responded:
Back in early May, we may have been oversubscribed by about 17. (I’m not sure of the exact number.) We are less oversubscribed now. I would anticipate that we would only go to the waitlist should we become undersubscribed. As I mentioned, I don’t expect that we will take many students, if any.

So we just have to hope more than 17 students opt to not attend Yale. I don’t know how great the chances are. Anyone who has more updates…post please.

Have any of you on the extended list heard anything else? Does anyone know by how much they are still oversubscribed?

nope, no idea. but they should let us know by the end of june

Hi guys,

I heard from a friend who recently had a conversation with the Dean of Admissions that for a variety of reasons they are no longer oversubscribed and actually now have a few (very few) spaces. So keep your fingers crossed!

Of course, this is third-hand info and my friend could have been BSing, but she’s pretty reliable.

can anyone call to confirm this?

Why don’t you call yourself? (Although it might be a little late for this business day.) I would call if I were interested, but I’m not. I believe my friend and I have no stake in the matter.

The Yale Undergrad Admissions website gives the number as 203-432-9300, in the US, of course. via yale.edu /admit/index.html

Bouda, do you know how recently your friend’s conversation occurred?

Tuesday, I think. I’m not sure. It was definitely in the early half of this week.

A few days ago an email went out to the class of 2013 offering the gap year option with a new deadline of August 1 (it was May 1), so maybe a few students who hadn’t chosen that option by May 1st but have since wished for it will take the plunge opening up more spaces.

Everyone please update when they hear anything!

I got an email today, saying that they will not be taking anyone off the waitlist this year and are still over-subscribed. So that’s the end of the line, I’m guessing?
