****Official 2013 Yale Waitlist Thread****

its end of june. and still nothing. this is frustrating.

This is pretty odd, they didn’t even send us ANYTHING. We should’nt count our chickens too early though, the day isn’t over (even though, if they were going to send us an email and/or mail it should have been today). Either they forgot (haha as unlikely as one of us getting in), they don’t care, the email is on its way in a few hours, they’re extending it again, or they only emailed the select few that got in (which at this point seems like a non-existant select few). Just a few theories, each of which have no factual basis; just throwing them out there. I guess no news is good news, in this case at least (not necessarily, but at least we can try and hope so). If ANYONE gets ANYTHING from them, please notify! I’m kind of afraid to email my admissions officer, but I think I will go ahead and do so, to once again ask about this prolonged ordeal. Best of luck to all.

Nothing today either, it seems. Lilmrali, have you gotten a reply?

I called them 2day and tried to get in contact with my regional AO. I had to leave a message on her machine; she hasn’t returned my call yet. Also, I didn’t get anything in the mail nor by email. I really dont know what’s going on. It seems very unprofessional of them to just leave us hanging like this. I wish they would just reject us if that’s what they’re going to do (most likely at this point in time, as we know very well). It’s all really unpredictable now; I mean, there are possibilities ranging from them offering us a place in the class of 2014 (Harvard did that for some of its waitlistees), or a place in the spring term (I THINK BC did that for some of its waitlistees) or jus rejecting us (which Yale has done in the past). It’s not really safe to assume anything at this point though, besides our rejection that is haha. As soon as they contact me (If they do) I’ll post here. Please do the same. Best of luck to all, again

has yale ever placed anyone from the waitlist in class of 2014 or the spring term?

sry that came out wrong. Has yale ever placed anyone in the waitlist in another year or another term?

i know someone who was placed in their following year… apparently it happens to a couple, not necessarily wait-listed people every time (don’t know how accurate this info is, heard it from a friend).

term though - i’ve never known of it. i mean, it’s possible.

I’ll put a positive spin on this: maybe the fact that Admissions has not updated any of the “final 50” means that they are now working to decide who will be admitted! It’s a possibility, at least. Best of luck to all.

anyone get anything today?

absolutely nothing…and still no response to my phone call…i want to email my AO…but i’m afraid they’ll think I’m overbearing…i think im might do that though…regardless

if nobody has any info, may i ask, where are all of you from? (just to get a little bit of demographics of the 50 Yale chose to keep on the fence)…I’m from Queens, NYC…anyone else from NY?

Kids, kids! It’s the night before a holiday weekend, in the slowest part of the year for college admissions. No one is going to be around. It looks like they have basically closed the regular waitlist, and if they are keeping 50 people on tap, it may be August or even September before anything changes enough to make offers.

Stop complaining about being left on tenterhooks. You are only on tenterhooks because you choose to be. You can end the suspense any time you want by simply asking to be taken off whatever waitlist is left, and committing yourself wholeheartedly to whatever college has your deposit now (which is probably a darn fine college). After all, there’s a 99.9% chance you will be going there even if you stay on the Yale waitlist. Don’t torture yourself. And don’t imagine that someone is doing this to you other than yourself.

^lilmrali, nope, I’m from Long Beach, CA :)

*goes off to relax in the southern california sun

hey guys…i got rejected today

^whoa, lilmrali, how did you find out? phone call? mail? email?

*still haven’t gotten anything

Good luck, limrali.

i got a letter in the mail…its marked as June 30th so i think they sent w/e theyre sending (acceptance-if those even exist- and/or rejection letters) on June 30th…it took 3 days to get here from CT (im in NY) so maybe its taking some extra time to get to your house…i hope its not rejection but…by the looks of it…it might be… best of luck to all…who wants to transfer next yr!!! hahaaha

Ouch. Well then, best of luck to me, too. ;)

Just got rejected via mail (Texas) 10 minutes ago. Bummer. The letter said that my rejection was based on a “review of the current state of the freshman class” so I’m assuming Yale is still oversubscribed and no one will get in. Again, good luck in the future to all.

yay, just got the rejection letter from yale!

i think a cardinal suits me better than a bulldog.

best of luck to all
