Has anyone heard from the SFS yet? Wondering if all the schools have done acceptances yet or just some. Did anyone here apply to the SFS?

I applied to the college and haven’t heard anything yet…very nervous right now.

here is a theory: Universities usually give applications to officers based on location or school or both and they usually reject/admit the obvious ones while some the rest goes to committees. Perhaps some officers finished with their obvious admits. (All the people admitted have very high SATs and GPAs compared to what the transfer middle 50 percentile is.)

@wellletshope Makes sense, except my stats are empirically lower than @KingofSweden’s, and he hasn’t received a letter (although he should tbh). I mean honestly, college admissions are a crapshoot, I applied to 12 schools as a freshman and only got into 1.

@ArchibaldTuttle haha thanks man, but you should be really proud of yourself for receiving such an early acceptance.

My admissions officer has already contacted me twice asking for additional information requested by the committee, which I guess is good news. Only time will tell, I guess.

@KingofSweden that is so exciting! You don’t have to answer if it is sensitive info, but what kind of info did they ask for?

My admissions officer sent me an email asking for a screenshot/PDF of my 2011 SAT II score, which was requested by the committee. I sent it in May 2nd, and the officer replied saying she would be in contact with me if the committee requested any additional information.

It was a perfect score (800 in US History) but the fact that I haven’t gotten a decision leads me to believe I was rejected. I really couldn’t say why, though.

I wouldn’t worry… Your stats and credentials are impressive.

I talked to the office of undergrad admissions today and they told me that most of the people that heard back yesterday were either the obvious acceptances or the people who requested early notification… They are still doing committee meetings and reviewing Apps until June 1st.

@KingofSweden I think you should be fine. Which school/major did you apply?

@GunninMed I’m transferring from ORU, which is in Tulsa, OK. However, I’m originally from Pittsburgh, PA, so maybe they are doing it by location. My acceptance email also says the same thing that ArchibaldTuttle’s does @alr317

Is the 150 out of 2000 for the College only? Or does it include other schools like MSB?

@wellletshope I applied to Georgetown College as a French major.

New Here: These are my stats:

Low HS GPA due to having to work as a teenager to supplement family income
3.2 CC GPA over 4 years also b/c working to support family

Waived SAT/ACT requirements due to time away from school: (over 5 years)

EC’s:

Volunteered over 15 years at youth leadership development organization for which I became a director
Worked as an assistant to a Consul doing security and protection duties of foreign nationals
Graduated from the Gamaliel Foundation Community Organizing institute (where Barack Obama was trained)
Organized people and money to build power to

stop the privatization of the public library system in our town
restore $250k in cuts to public transportation
stopped the fiscally unsound acquisition of unincorporated land using public funds
Made a city spend $1 Million to purchase land for a park to address childhood obesity, gang membership and create jobs.
Have written and been accepted for over $1 Million in Grants for neighborhood campaigns and public/private investment
Stopped a redevelopment plan to gentrify a low income neighborhood
Worked on the drawing of new State Assembly and Congressional maps and unseated a longstanding Congressman in the process because our maps were accepted by the commission.

Grades BAD = Merit ???

@KingofSweden I had a lot of correspondence with my admissions officer a week or two ago after my first missing notification. Turned out they had everything but it got filed under the wrong name.
We actually ended up talking quite a bit about my background and current schedule and she jumped at the chance to take my final grades for spring and updates.(I’m on a accelerated schedule for most classes, only one is still underway) I was hoping that was a good sign lol 4 semesters: 3.9

I did some googling and found out she is also the assistant director of admissions, and diversity recruited as well.

@sonolacrosse Congrats! But I’m thinking the location isn’t it because archibald is local.

Wow you guys are impressive! Starting to doubt my own chances now… @angelhollister1 I don’t think your grades will matter you have amazing ECs and have already made a huge impact in your community! Good luck:)

Thanks and good luck to all as well!

Would anyone turn down Georgetown over Berkeley, UCLA, or UCSB?

Given that I’m at UCLA right now, no I wouldn’t. But it’s all up to what kind of experience you are looking for! A lot of my friends go to Berkeley and love it. Same goes for UCSB, but (as I’m sure you know) it’s a big party school.

The three (gtown/ucla/Berkeley) are all very similar in rigor and quality. I’d say I would choose Georgetown if you were interested in medicine, govt/politics, international relations. If none of the above decide on atmosphere and surroundings
