Official 2014 NYU Transfer Thread

My boyfriend applied as a transfer student for this fall just like you guys. He logged in, and was able to complete the application for housing. This is what I found on the NYU website… perhaps being able to see the application, and or complete it does mean something. http://www.nyu.edu/life/living-at-nyu/on-campus-living/housing-lottery-and-applications/applicants.html</a></p>

"Transfer Students
New transfer undergraduate students who have accepted admission to the University will be able to access the non-renewable housing application on the NYUHome Housing Forms channel.

Fall 2014: Housing for transfer students is not guaranteed. With the closing of Hayden Hall for the 2014-2015 academic year, we do not anticipate being able to offer housing to anyone who does not have a guarantee of housing. The Fall 2014 non-renewable housing application is available. Anyone who completes the non-renewable application by May 30, 2014 will receive a status update by June 2, however, we encourage new transfer students and other non-renewable applicants to seek accommodations off campus due to a lack of available space on campus."

I also found the following definition for non-renewable on the NYU website …

"NYU guarantees undergraduate housing to students for their academic career provided the following conditions are met for the duration of their stay in housing:

students accept the initial housing offer at the time of admission (not all students are offered housing upon admission)
students meet all payment deadlines
students meet all reapplication deadlines
students maintain matriculated status
students do not at anytime cancel their housing contract (school approved medical leaves and NYU study abroad programs are the only exception)

Students who meet the above criteria will maintain a “renewable” status within the housing system. Those that do not meet the above criteria have a “non-renewable” housing status. Non-renewable students are eligible for housing but are not guaranteed and only offered housing based upon space availability. For more information about how to apply, please click here."

How do you guys think previous acceptance into the school will affect your application, assuming you have a solid justification as to why you did not initially choose NYU?

@crazynewton I’m sure they will look at your application and everything with fresh eyes. I wouldn’t worry about it.

I really hope some of us hear back tomorrow!

anyone figured out what “non-renawable undergraduate” means on the housing page?

@mae742‌ Most ( If not all) of us were able to log into housing. No one can log-in to it anymore because they closed it to applicants.

@filmschoolgirl‌ I can still log into housing and fill out the housing application. However, I have not received any notification from NYU and my financial aid on Albert has changed to this:
http://oi62.■■■■■■■.com/20zoe9x.jpg</a>
Before today, it didn’t even show a year or anything.

@sorakeybade you CAS?
btw I can log into housing again as well.

@sorakeybade‌ Oh, yeah I just checked I guest we can log in again, how strange. A few people have noticed a change on their financial aid page, it might be a good thing but I don’t know.

Yeah I can access it again. Maybe there was an error that they just recently fixed.

@wellletshope‌ Yes, I applied to CAS

Any Steinhardt applicants here? … by the way i’ve got all my materials on albert checked off… getting more nervous now

@amspectre‌ I am steinhardt too. Has your financial aid changed?

so… NYU just told me I would get a decision in 3-4 weeks. :expressionless:

@Hopefully omg that’s a really long wait! You are apply to CAS?

I called my high school counsellor and he told me 1-2 weeks. but NYU is probably more accurate.

@rabbitsarelate‌ I applied to stern but he said that will be the decision for most (NYU) schools. This is really annoying now because last week they said they would start this week, and keep trickling for the rest of the month. UGH.

@mae742‌ i dont see any change on my finAid tho… what major are u applying…?

I sent them email and they simply told me that my decision has not been made:(

@Hopefully sigh that’s really annoying :(:frowning:

Although some of you guys said the portal for housing application is closed for now, I just tried and I can still log in. What does this say? Is this portal now open?
