Official 2014 Thread for UCB appeals

Hey guys, I was recently rejected from my dream school, as were many others. I thought about it and really believe that if you have new and compelling information to present as a viable argument to this school, and you're not willing to let go of your rejection like I was/am, then now's your chance to make one last stand. As for me, I'm not appealing to make a simple excuse as to why I didn't perform well in my college career because my GPA is ultra competitive.

If you applied for a super competitive major, truly desired to attend, and you yourself were competitive and endured legitimate hardships (e.g personal and not familial), utilized all the available tools to help you learn and develop as a college student, and you have a connection with the school, then by all means make the most compelling argument you can make to give it another shot.

This thread should be used to encourage those who've been doubting themselves of their abilities these past few days.

I want to appeal just for the heck of it

3.3 gpa

will submit letters of recomendations I got for film schools (rejected for film studies major)

So is it just me, or does the website now say they’ll try to get back to you by “Thursday, May 1 2014”, AKA yesterday? I thought it was before June 1?

@seeuspacecowboy‌ No, for transfer appeal applicants, the deadline is June 1st. May 1st is for freshmen.

Bump… I have an appeal letter I’ve been working on for the last 6 days. I’ve never spent so much time editing and fine tuning an essay in my life, for I would always write an essay a day before its due date. If you would like to help me out, you can PM me and I will send you my appeal letter, since I don’t think I’d feel comfortable with publishing my appeal to all of college confidential.

I want to appeal because college English and math are still in progress and its a hard line requirement for some UCs and it might be the case for Berkeley

I will submit my letter with a transcript showing that I passed these two classes and that my igetc is complete

Do you think this is a legitimate case to appeal or it most likely wont make them consider offering me admission?

Also how important it is to write a strong essay? I am planning to make it brief and just state my case, not planning to be witty or write a clever essay, do you think it matters?

@chaoscuber deadline for transfer applicants is May 15th. not June 1.
We will get the decision at June 1st

just finished my appeal letter, is anyone willing to read it and give me some feedback?
Its my very first draft so its very rough… aka be brutally honest when editing please. also i will read anyones drafts if they want :)

@Bookham‌ Send it to me! I’ll help you out, so long as you read mine haha. And @whosnext‌ I didn’t say it wasn’t on May 15th. I’m well aware of the due date :)
